I was at those games too - bloody depressing both of them! I've got such a bad away record, we lose 90% of the away matches I go to.

I've seen Palace lose at Aldershot, Man Utd, Man City, Arse (several times), Brighton (more than once), Millwall, Charlton (multiple), Sheff Weds (not last season, lost 4-1 a few years ago), Derby (old Baseball Ground), Hull, Swindon, Oxford (see above), Ipswich, QPR, Chelsea, Fulham, Liverpool, Watford, Forest.

Seen them win at Bradford, Watford, Charlton (Playoffs years ago), Stockport (yes, THAT one), Orient. Er...that's it.

Just realised I've gone off topic..these games weren't all played in the '80's. Sorry.

That Sheffield Utd (87 I think) game in the fog wasn't that the day we shared the special with Millwall who was at Barnsley they had the front 2 carriages then a Carriage with the 4 coppers in then Palace in the other 11.

Millwall wasn't to brave that day, I remember them jumping off the train at St Pancreas and running for the tube I had to go home the same way has them as I lived in Brockley and didn't see one of them On the way home.

Apart from so many great away days in the late 80's, two earlier 80's ones stick in my mind:

1984 Sheff Wed 0-1 Wednesday needed at least a draw to win promotion to the top flight after many years away. Probably the loudest crowd i've ever heard - it was literally painful to listen to at times. The view of the Wednesday-ites in the Kop from our empty Leppings Lane end was one i'll never forget - so tightly packed, they were like a swarm of bees.

It was a Mel Stirland pen that won it after a Billy Gilbert foul. We had nothing riding on it, so it was one of those days where you didn't mind losing because of the spectacle you witnessed.

1985 Carlisle 2-2. Made the 13hr round coach trip for this evening game. Think there was about 50 Palace there if that. We were 2-1 down with a minute or two left when Barber popped up with an equaliser.

Think I was on coach No.1 and I remember Joyce the voice and husband there and also some bloke called Mel I think who came dressed in a kilt, and also a big guy called Dave who was steward on the bus - think he's since passed away.

Hi Kenners - the Carlisle game: I seem to have a memory of the referee being particularly biased towards the home team that day - every 50/50 seemed to go their way. Can remember Finnigan and Gray in particular going crazy at the ref. Remember celebrating the late equaliser so well, and Irvine coming right over to us with a thumbs up.

Do you realise that in our very next match at home to Huddersfield, Ian Wright made his first ever appearance for Palace off the bench? I'm guessing then, that Wrighty was an unused sub for that Carlisle match - why didn't Coppell bring him on? We might have won!!!!

Amazing really. Little did we know as we stood on that windy terrace in Carlisle, what an unbelievable impact that young, unknown kid sitting on the bench was about to make on our club.

anyone remember Bournemouth away in 87? 2-0 down and won 3-2 ! what a game Wright and Brighty had so many one on ones we could have had ten!!!
