I actually couldnt watch the game once we went 2 down. its so boring. wilf at one time had 2 defenders on him, well they didnt bother today. We are too predictable, everyone knows to tap, push, spit, comment...well anything really and wilf just shuts up shop.

We have smuggled a those 1-0 wins which WE COULD HAVE EASILY LOST. We are the second lowest scorers have no bite in the games. we havent scored 3 goals in a game all season.
We have definitely got aWay with it this season but not the next unless changes are made.

Imagine actually having to travel to watch that pathetic turnout today.

Pathetic and totally embarrassing performance at Villa today. We need to weed out the players who don't give 100%. Sell Zaha, he plays like he is frightened of getting injured. Look at Norwich / Villa / Bournemouth players we could get on the cheap.

I didn’t see the game but I assume busy reading half the comments in this thread we were as dire and predictable as we have been for half the season. What I don’t get is why does Roy say players on the fringes of the 1st team have to take their chances and then refuse to give them any? I’d not say anything if we were either playing well or winning

Sorry, but no. This performance plumbed the depths. It was shocking and an affront to every Palace supporter.

At no point have we done anything about our RB situation - a massive Proportion Of the goals we concede come form the right. Why stick with a loosing formation week afernweek?
The problem is we could have a brilliant bench but would never actually know as they don’t get a fair crack. Did we honestly ever really give Sorloth a run of games!
Fundamentally do we think that once safe in the Prem we should be doing anything other than going into games with an attack minded formation or looking to develop a
Plan b formation or blooding young talent? If not against the second worst Team I the league the I have to conclude it won’t happen.
Thank to Roy for doing a great job but as for DF no thanks, his performance as DF is hardly something to fill fans with confidence!

Not Parish’s fault - we’re doing better than we ever have under his leadership. But now it’s time to do the right thing for the club again.
With so much good stuff in the pipeline we are an attractive proposition for a hungry ambitious manager - time to go get him Steve.

Dear oh dear. That pipeline is as long as the channel tunnel.

Yes time for Roy and Wilf to move on and let’s roll the dice and see what happens can’t keep watching this rubbish. Players and management look bored, no fight, can’t pass, can’t defend set pieces, can’t take set pieces. Clubs been missing a striker for 2 years and a right back for a year and playing 3 crabs in midfield with their heads down the whole game.

I know Roy’s had no money, we’re safe in mid table but been very fine lines all year even the games we’ve won could have gone either way. I’ve stuck by him despite not enjoying the matches because it’s a results business. However now the results are not going for us what is there to get behind? Where’s the enjoyment in playing poorly and losing too by big margins were not even in games anymore! The ends aren’t justifying the means and I’m done tbf. Cheers Roy worked wonders up to this point but time for a change now.

Today was a low point villa are awful and played 2 days after us with an injury to their starting 11 in the warm up no excuses is there. We’re the second lowest scorers in the league and worst team from scoring at corners. With Benteke, Cahill and Dann something has to be wrong there thats training ground stuff that Roy hasn’t sorted all season.

The same rubbish subs too. It’s not all Roy’s fault Wilf has to look in the mirror this season, I’m not sure how Benteke sleeps at night on 100k a week. Sent off today in 96 minute has shown no real fight all game just plastic tuff man probably wants to take the wife on hols early. Doesn’t jump his height or punch his weight. PVA can’t play 2 good games a row or use his right peg and too busy on Twitter fighting Katie Hopkins and Luka since his new deal looks like a pub team vet. Awful performances put in by all 3 most of the season.

Parish and Dougie have to look at then recruitment of Meyer (little 5 aside player on silly money at the wrong club completely) the weird loan deal of Sorloth that looks like losing us 10 million, Riedwield looks like a kid in the playground just chases the ball around with no discipline and no actual position that he’s good in. What is he? He’s not a centre half, left back or midfielder FFs.

Cahill, Guita and Ayew all low risk signings that have done well but no sell on value so that model isn’t sustainable. Our next long term signings have to be on the money And do you really trust Dougie and the board with that at the moment? Also Roy himself has said the academy is currently producing nothing. I mean if them boys can’t threaten this squad then they must be pony.

Anyway rant over. Let’s roll the dice and see what happens. More than happy to take relegation on the chin if we cash in on Wilf and buy some young Chelsea reserves or championship prospects with a younger gaffer than doesn’t set up not to lose home and away with a rigid plan A. Wilf is the best player we’ve had since Ian Wright and we may be even more useless without him, but were useless now with him. Let him play for a big boy and see if not having 3 players on him the whole game helps him hit the level he thinks he’s capable of. Let’s get some prospects in and enjoy going to the games again FFs.

Up the palace..../

That’s some rant and I agree with what you say. Thing is that Roy is guaranteed to get us 34-45 points next season, and I said early this season we shaded the points. That didn’t go down well with the usual crowd. The problem is that Roy was the one manager that Parish decided himself successfully and the budget situation available hasn’t improved enough since to provide anyone so we’ll stick with Roy. Without the Zaha cash I think we’re in a bit of trouble. Without Wilf and with Roy we’re in a bit of trouble as well.

Not mind losing games when we give it a go (Chelsea 2-3), but how on earth can the most experienced team (agewise) be the worst passers of the ball in PL? Do they ever practise simple "receive the ball and play it on to a team mate?"? With no pressure and plenty of time, over and over we give away the ball to players representing the opposition. Joel Ward is the main culprit, but at Villa Park our midfield almost did outshine him.
Seems Jairo Riedewald is the only genuine ball-passer in the squad - and he hardly get a look in. Even if he was POTM in January as stand-in for PVA on left back.
We might easily end up this season with 8 losses on the trot - and a manager who constantly reject to come up with a plan B.

If he came in i would lump on for relegation, and he would probably jump ship just before we were down, for a better offer, no thanks !

If he was offered it that would be a step too far for me

I like most have watched an awful lot of football over the last few weeks. Teams with smaller quality squads are struggling. Including us, we look tired and are irritated at the least thing. Other teams also look similar. Leicester are blowing cold and colder as are Everton. It seems to be happening to all teams at the moment. Even Liverpool who I feel would have found a way against Burnley if they weren't playing every three or four days. I know they're young men and professional but these are very unusual times. My real concerns for us revolve around the new season. I'm not sure when it's due to start but unless there is a 6 week lay off and then games going back to one a week or so, I really fear for us next year. On Roy I think the answer is simple. Sack him or back him. If we sack him we would really need to back the new manager. Clear out some of the squad and replace. But that could be dangerous if we clear too many out as West Ham, Everton and Fulham have found out, changing the team too much doesn't mean instant success. Just be careful what we wish for.

One thing is perfectly clear, with an aging squad unless new blood is introduced very soon relegation is nailed on.

I agree with most of this. With regard to backing Roy, there does seem to be some division in the club. Roy has said he doesn’t get involved in transfers but then doesn’t play incoming players, presumably signed by Dougie. Until this anomaly is sorted, we have problems

It's a strange season as it has probably been the least stressful since we came up with it rarely looking like we would be going down but at the same time it has probably been the least entertaining in terms of the football. Short-term that seems like it was a necessity given the clubs ridiculously low outlay since Roy has come in, but in the medium to long term this is surely not maintainable if the club doesn't want to lose its fan base? The hardest part is that given Roy's age will the club want to invest in his vision? I would imagine instead he will be given the players that the club sees as its future.
