From the BBC Season ticket holders can still attend games they have tickets for but club can not now sell any more tickets that haven’t been sold already The merchandise shop will be closed.

I would have thought the sensible thing from a government's perspective would be to let them keep generating income to meet the running costs of the club (including presumably a large number of Brits employed), but prevent their sale. (Not sure of the legal ramifications if season ticket holders decided not to pay their remaining instalments. I think the club might struggle to enforce the original terms). Players have human rights and I suspect that if say CG wanted to sign for Palace and Chelsea were in agreement that it would be against his human rights to prevent this after all he is not being sanctioned himself. My guess is that at some point Chelsea will be allowed to sell players but the money would then go into a government controlled account. The current restrictions only apply to the end of May so are about stopping RA from plundering the club now, after that by the time the transfer window opens there will be new rules. I suspect that something might happen before then as I can imaging Chelsea will start to have issues with some of the sanctions. Tickets, away travel etc. On a side, I wonder how much they usually spend on away game travel - I bet its more than the limit set.

Some articles have suggested that with player salaries being £28 million a month on the months where there wasnt enough money in the CFC account to pay the players RA wrote a cheque to cover the difference, well clearly thats not going to happen in future, so if the club dosent get new owners soon it may become a case of having to sell players to cover the balance. Additionally - it feels as though things for CFC are going to get worse before they get better so if you were a prospective new owner you might be encouraged to gamble on letting things get worse in order to be able to buy the club at a reduced rate.

This sanction has been very poorly thought out and seems like a knee jerk reaction to get Starmer off Boris's back and I have no doubt that it will be quietly amended shortly

They had to do something and so rushed the ' licence ' agreement through. My guess now is that Chelsea will be sold for a comparatively low price v. what RA originally wanted, via another Government agreed license. So attracting buyers would not be an issue. And to keep the club financially viable, a deal needs to be done sooner rather than later. One thing is for sure is that the new owners won't be playing fast and loose with the finances. A major reset in the way the business is run is a dead cert.
