Why did Palace sign Henderson?

Along the same lines, I am still mystified that we spent 10M on Richards, but he hardly gets a look in and his value must have dropped quite a bit. Seems odd that he sits on the bench while Wardy gets roasted by every team we play. Edited by radicalsteve (16 Nov 2023 1.51pm)

Perhaps we will sell SJ for a massive profit and then get Henderson in with the view to do the same with him in a couple of years?

I heard that Johnstone’s family couldn’t settle in London and wanted to move back up north so a move for Henderson made sense at the time. Since then he’s obviously realised South London is wonderful.

I think Joe Whitworth is a really promising young goalkeeper but that's an enormous / silly gamble and he's not done anything yet to justify that kind of blind faith. He could go in, lose confidence and get us relegated on his own which is the point I was making. Well as he's done for an academy player I'd be looking for an upgrade on Mitchell. He gets himself into some good attacking positions but doesn't find enough quality IMO. OK defensively.
