That's a good summary. I see Eze as more of a backup to Bellingham with Maddison as his main rival, but can see him using Foden there in an emergency and taking an extra winger
Neither Chilwell nor Shaw are currently fit. He'd probably rather use Trippier there but he has only just returned as a late sub. TBH, I don't think Mitchell is anywhere near the standard required as his last two away performances have shown

Cant blame him to be fair . Who would want to play under Southgate .
The whole international qualification thing though needs tightening up . With migration around the world now common we see many players being able to chose between 2/3/4 different countries . Makes it all a bit farcical and you end up with situations like France v Senegal a few years back where Senegal had more French born players than France .

Country of birth for me and thats it .

Very good shout. Also means Olise is nailed on English.
At the moment, nationality is virtually meaningless.
I would also include managers on this.

I think Mateta is a possibility for the France squad in the centre forward position. Giroud is 37 not scoring or playing mutch and Benzema is 36 playing in Saudi Arabia. That leaves Mbappe who is guaranteed, Marcus Thuram of Inter Milan and Randal Kolo Muani of PSG. Thuram looks a good bet with 13 goals and 13 assists this season. Muani has only 6 goals and five assists in the weaker French Ligue 1. Mateta on the other hand is the player currently in form and as a former under 21 international he is not new to French squads.

In the expanded squad there is a place for at least three inside forwards. Therefore, if as I expect Didier Deschamps has kept an eye on our wonderkid Olise, Mateta’s performances will not have escaped his attention.

It's Gareth Southgate for England - whilst we might speculate he's simply going to pick exactly the same squad he always does barring injuries. If Southgate were an ice cream I think we all know what flavour he would be. He's as exciting and unpredictable as a warm cup of tea and a digestive.

Surely an international coach would bite your hand off to select two team-mates from one of the current best forward lines in any of the major leagues.

Nice idea but impossible to enforce. Firstly how would FIFA/UEFA define what a 'manager' actually does; what their role is? Would foreigners be banned from scouting, from squad selection and team picking or from setting tactics or making substitutions? Sure, ban foreigners from standing in that little white box near the half-way line.

He should not pick Maguire, Rashford or that young kid from United. I would not be surprised if he did.

He should take Wharton but wont. I expect Guehi to be in the squad but barring injuries will only be a backup. Eze is on the bubble, I would take him but I doubt Southgate will.

Why?

Have you not read the current statistics? Palace has one of the best forward lines in Europe on current form.

Your comment got me thinking and researching.

In our current 6 game unbeaten run Palace have scored 16 goals of which our front 3 gems have scored 13 (Mateta 6; Olise 4; and Eze 3).

The other 3 goals have come from our sub "striker/AM" Schlupp, wing-back Mitchell and the opposition (WHam).

That got me thinking - why virtually nothing from the midfield and I think the answer is simply that the midfield and wing-backs are doing the job of winning the ball high up the pitch and giving it to one of the front 3 to do/orchestrate the damage.

The 12 assists recorded for those goals were provided by:

Mitchell 1
Andersen 1
Olise 2
Eze 1
Ayew 1
Hughes 1
Wharton 2
Munoz 2
Richards 1
