Shocking. Hot Cross Buns are an Easter thing created by a monk in the dim and distant past and intended to be eaten in the week leading up to Easter. Easter is a Christian holiday and the buns are a symbolic part of it. If those of a non-Christian faith don't agree just leave the rest of us alone to enjoy our spicy, sticky, fruit buns lightly toasted with a large dollop of butter. Iceland should be ashamed of themselves.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

I don't know whether this is wokery or whether Lloyds Bank has completely taken leave of its senses. According to yesterday's i newspaper, they have introduced an "inclusive language guide". To be avoided are "guinea pig" because its use may not be "inclusive of vegan colleagues", "headless chicken" because of its association with animal cruelty, and "widow" because it could remind people of a traumatic event (they recommend that the utterly inappropriate word "separated" shoud be used instead). It seems that some people won't be satisfied until our English language has been mangled out of all recognition.
