He has been amply rewarded for his excellent play in the past, he already got 45k a week more than anyone else, we dont owe him any thing, Olise, Eze, Andersen, Guehi and Doucoure are all better players than him on less money, i think it shows lack of respect to the previously mentioned players, how many clubs would want that five on a free

I really don't understand the negativity.

Let's see what happens next season and then judge.

That is why no top six team has come in - they have been quietly told he is staying. And before loads of you start going crazy about a waste of 200k a week, get this - it’s none of your business. The club will pay what they believe is good business for them and it is only gossip that it is 200k a week. They will pay what they believe is a fair deal and that’s all that matters.

Nobody is getting their knickers in a twist waterford , we are just chewing the fat because there is no football . If it wasn't Wilf we would be talking more about the manager or the chairman or maybe re signing Soloth .

Wilf has been excellent for us and carried us for a number of year - for which he was well paid, earning more in a week that a lot of us in a year.

Recently he's slowed, and his influence has waned. He can still turn a game on his own, but less and less, and against the lower sides.

He's a free agent, yet how many of the top 10 are vying for his signature - none, and that tells it's own story. I'd love him to stay, but not on 200k for 4 years as that handicaps our ability to sign, develop and grow. We are CPFC not Wilf FC, so if he does not want to sign, and let's be honest he's had months to decide, then it's time to move on.

This is about right in my opinion. He's probably still our best player and it would be great if he stayed, however it needs to be on our terms, not his. We don't owe him anything.

I don't believe the £200k pw rumours. I think a three year contract of £120k pw is about right and still more than any other PL or European club would offer.

I agree with a lot of what you say but not the suggestion that Zaha has had months to decide whether to accept the contract offer from Palace - He can only make that decision when he knows what his other options are, and he won't know fully what his options are until the transfer window plays out a bit.

He could of course have decided to sign with Palace and not explore any other options, but we all knew he wouldn't do that, and nor would I expect him to.

Zaha has apparently said he will make his mind up after his honeymoon. I don't know when that is exactly, but I presume it's before the date that international players are due back for pre-season simply because I doubt he'd have booked the honeymoon to clash with training, be that at Palace or elsewhere.

Of course, we don't know how many concrete offers Wilf has in front of him as of today, but it seems fair to say that he can't yet have one from a top-level club offering to make him their main man, both financially and tactically, in that way Palace have. Surely he would have left by now if that had happened.

I'd imagine that instead, he has a host of firm, medium, or vague suggestions of offers at this stage.

Perhaps Marseille, for instance, have been speaking to Wilf since January but not made a formal offer because they didn't know if they'd be in the Champions League or not. Does that count as an offer he's had for months, or one he's known about for ages but not been able to rely on until very recently? Will he have given it proper consideration up to now therefore, or just ignored it?

Perhaps PSG, for instance, have flirted with him but he is their third choice, or the move depends on what happens with Mbappe or whether Neymar recovers from injury.

Perhaps he's been told he is on the list of a few top English clubs, but that certain pieces must fall into place, like Spurs selling Kane, or Newcastle selling ASM and not getting Barnes.

Who knows?!

I imagine the transfer window is very much a movable feast, bordering on smoke and mirrors for players are much as it is for clubs.

If I were Zaha I would be torn between the certainty and security of the Palace contract, and the nagging doubt that if I had held my nerve up to the end, I might have got my dream move.

Premier League wages are farcical. £120,000 a week is X4 the average annual salary. For every £5 in your pocket he's got £1000.

I'd be interested to see if he is gradually moved into the middle and used less for pace and more for picking out a pass to prolong his career. IF he is indeed staying that is.
This has been done before with quality players, sometimes adding 3, even 4 years to said players career as his knees/legs go on that bit longer. Roy is certainly the coach with the necessary experience and knowledge to help him make that transformation. Saying that Zaha is hardly an old man and those claiming he is not as fast in matches must be sitting there with stop watches and measuring tapes because (when he isn't carrying any form of niggly injury) I've seen no difference in his pace and form. Pre World Cup (only 7 months ago) he was in the form of his life.
Zaha clearly looks after himself and he is only 30. Cristiano Ronaldo is 38, Eden Hazard is 32, Jamie Vardy 34, Kevin de Bruyne is 32. I'm not comparing these players in anything except age. If Zaha signs a 4 year deal and adapts his game in order to prolong his career (which many players that start out by relying on pace tend to do) he'll only be 34 when his contract is over. Still young enough if he's looked after himself to look for one final contract. Maybe in the USA or Croydon Athletic.
