In the final analysis the PL is watered down by not having the so called top clubs in it and the financial implications and ramifications further down the 'Pyramid' would be gargantuan.

The SL has been presented as a supplementary Midweek League and perhaps for all the vitriol being expressed and threats aimed at the clubs and players a compromise will be found. It is just a matter of time before the SL comes into existence.

No I don’t think they will be booted out, there will be a compromise which will involve the PL being cut to make way for more European games. And more likely than not Palace will be the ones to suffer as staying in the smaller PL will prove b difficult

You could well prove to be right.

All this vitriol about clubs being banished from the PL and domestic competitions and players NOT being allowed to play in International games will not turn out to be the actualite.Threats which will not be carried out.

I don't foresee a scenario whereby the SL is formed, the clubs no longer compete in the PL and their players banned from playing for their countries.

Apparently 3 other big clubs are poised to join my guess is they are waiting to see what happens. I would imagine they are probably Italian? possibly German maybe even Ajax?

Rumours are that one is RB Leipzig, that European giant that is only 14 years old!

Another legal scenario just occurred to me.

A player or manager of the big 6 takes UEFA to court under restraint of trade. Player points out that he wants to play in the domestic competitions but is being punished for the actions of his employer which has nothing to do with him.

I expect the lawyers are licking their lips at the court actions to come.

But if his club has been thrown out? His gripe would surely be with his employer.Don’t clubs have to apply to enter the FA Cup?

German and French clubs not getting involved. Exclude clubs from domestic competitions and players from International duty, that should do it!
FIFA and UEFA only have themselves to blame but 6 English clubs sort of sums it up

They are clubs in the English league but they are owned by people who have no allegiance to English or British football.

A quote from David Bernstein (Ex FA Chairman).

“....it's because some of these clubs have incurred enormous debt. I believe certainly Barcelona and Real Madrid, and I think at least one of the English clubs, are approaching £1bn of debt”.

"I think they're in a desperate situation. One of the things they haven't done during the pandemic is to impose some sort of wages control. They've got themselves into a bit of a predicament."

I despise everything about the proposed 'league' (is it really?). I thought it may have just been me and my dyed in the wool, old boy views.

But it's been heartening to read your equally horrified comments on here. Surely this won't go ahead?

Money, money, money. It's all about the potential money it'll make for a few. Dreadful.

Thank Gawd for clubs like Palace with their working class values that's all I can say.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Under the franchise model, they probably won't even have to be based in Leipzig.

Maybe they can buddy up with that title winning machine Spurs.

Neville made me laugh he slammed the other 5 clubs and actually said he wasn't bother about Spurs talk about damming with faint praise.

That's what lawyers are for. As for the FA cup I doubt the big 6 care about that and the League cup, not unless they were offered a bye to the semi finals.

this is what I don't get. How do the clubs involved expect to manage an increased amount of games, or do they think that they can pick and choose what domestic and international club cups they can play in? And if it's really the latter did they expect UEFA etc to just bend over.

I wonder if these 'elite' clubs are so cock sure of themselves and their top lawyers that they could get any ban from FIFA/UEFA-run competitions overturned in court.
