If and when Wilf goes we have to replace him properly as still all too often this season we have looked weak in attack when he's not played. Maybe it is a Ronaldo type situation and we'll play with more freedom without him, but for all his flaws I would still rather have him in the team than not as I think he is our most dangerous attacker and the best finisher.

Also, he still seems to have a real passion for his football, which is why I can't seem him going to Saudi. Personally I think he'll get his big move. Arsenal or some other big club could just offer him a juicy signing on fee in lieu of higher wages and he would be a relatively risk-free signing with the ability to make an instant impact.

The only reason I say it is because both of the players I mentioned are likely to be displaced by Wilf as second choice if he goes there.

I see your point

If Wilf really has been offered £12m a year tax free to go to Saudi, he would be crazy not to go even if its only a two year contract.
The weather and slower pace will help his injury issues and he will come back a rich man.

It depends what he wants. He has loadsa dosh already. If he wants to cash in to make himself a rich man for life, he'll go to Saudi. If he wants to be in a top PL team, he'll go to whatever top 6 team makes him the best offer? If one does of course. He's not an easy personality to deal with buy all accounts

I still say Newcastle is his most obvious destination.

He wants to win trophies well that rules out Spurs who are serial trophy dodgers, I don't think Arsenal or Liverpool need him and Chelsea are a basket case.

Anyone else in the PL is a sideways move.

Unless someone like PSG comes in for him I don't see him leaving the UK he is settled.

Aside from going to Brighton (which would never happen) this is probably the move I'd least like to see, possibly tied with Liverpool. If he goes I hope it's abroad in a top league, he gets his trophies and we keep the happy memories. The idea of seeing him score against us for another PL team makes my stomach turn a bit.

Yep I'd agree, especially if they get CL. They will need a bigger squad and he'll have most chance of starting there.

I suspect he'd prefer to go to Arsenal, he supports them and it wont require uprooting the fam. They may well offer him a contract to bolster their strength and depth. But he'd be behind Martinelli and Trossard I'd assume. So mainly be an impact sub or FA cup player. Not sure his ego could take that.

I don't see him at any of the big English sides. Possibly abroad. He was more linked to Villa than Arsenal. I don't think his move is going to work the way he thinks it is. Particularly if we do well without him, plus who (except us) pays loads of wages on injured players?

Wilf today is not the player of 2 or 3 seasons ago and the Leeds match showed that we can win and convincingly without him. The team is more balanced and we have players out on loan that could in a relatively short time take over his mantle.
He is also 30 and starting to pick up injuries as happens with age.

Why we have offered him £200k a week (if true) is beyond me.

Thanks for the many great memories Wilf but now is the time to go and we all move on.

One swallow does not a summer make.
We have had ONE good result without Wilf, there have been countless other games where his injury absense has been noticeable. 200k is a ballpark wage for a top striker in this league.
Wilf is a top striker in this league.
Will be a sad day when he no longer wears the red and blue. The club are right to try and retain him.

Time to let him go. He's been a fantastic servant to the club, but his time is up. By not signing a new contract I would imagine that he wants to go. We have shown over the past 3 games that there is life in Palace without him.
