I wouldn't say were a better team when he doesn't play. I would say 2 years ago, when Zaha didn't play, we were awful to watch and probably easy to play against.
Now, we aren't so easy to play against without him. Thanks mostly to the additional quality we now have e.g Doucoure, Eze, Olise.

The fact we are now a better all round team is skewing fans into thinking we don't need Wilf. He was our top scorer last season until Roy came back in and revitalised Ebs.

I know it is all about opinions, but i would rather have Willian on a one year deal, or Hudson Odoi on a 4/5 year deal than wilf on a 4 year deal, neck and millstone come to mind

Is just an opinion but I think a fair one.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

On reflection,we are frankly better off without this ill, disciplined, petulant,
constantly complaining individual who has seen better days and is well passed his prime. It is possible that he will spend much time on the treatment table over the years ahead.
Crazy to even contemplate paying him purportedly a small fortune over four years and time to move on!!

As others have pointed out, the fact that premiership clubs like Tottenham, Liverpool, Newcastle etc. have made no firm move for him tells us a lot!! It also looks like his boyhood club Arsenal - have cold feet and moved their attention to other targets.

I’d imagine his agent is trying to whip up as much hype for his client as possible. However, the fact is - there ain’t that many clubs queuing up for his signature.

In all honesty, I think the club should now withdraw the contract offer and move on.

For me, I agree with Arsenal. I did say possibly not Arsenal when I referenced the top 6.
Chelsea would take him in a heartbeat, especially given they are selling Pulisic so are short of options on that side.
Man U - they don't currently have a number 9, so I would assume Rashford will play through the middle. That's also where he has said he wants to play. Garnacho is a prospect but nowhere near Zaha level yet. Wilf would play.
Spurs - Son has had a shocking season, Wilf would have played in front of the Son of 2022/23 season. Who knows if Son will come back.
Newcastle - I don't get the hype with ASM. They don't even want him. I've got Geordie supporting mates who don't rate him because his end product is weak. I personally think Wilf would thrive in that Newcastle team and hugely outshine ASM.

I personally don't agree that Wilf gives the ball away too much, I think that's a cheap assessment of his game. Wilf, along with other flair players, will often try things that others can't. As a result is more likely to lose the ball, but if he gets it right could result in 1 or 3 points for the team. He only has to get it right once, doesn't matter too much how many times he gets it wrong because the team is built to allow for that.

I appreciate people have different opinions, that's football and that's why we love it. For me, Wilf is the greatest player to pull on the red and blue and it would be a real shame to see him leave. Then again, I was sad when Speroni hung the gloves up and that probably happened 4 seasons too late!

‘Chelsea would take him in a heartbeat’ but haven’t. They are needing to sort themselves out for FFP , selling all the academy players that have cost them nothing, so their sales/buys looks better. Still no interest in a free transfer??
None of the top six have shown any interest, but he walks into most of their teams!!
If he stays in England, not with us, I’d say he will go Everton/villa/West Ham . Top 6 probably not an option, he wouldn’t fancy the 3 that have come up or forest, wolves, Brentford, Bournemouth doubtful. Can’t see him going to Brighton!
Thinking about it, Palace, Villa, Everton, West Ham . Spin a coin, couldn’t say who finishes above who , none of the others would offer 200 grand a week for 4 years .
Where’s he going??
Can’t see anyone interested.
I’d offer 2 year deal. £100 grand a week first year.
Second year performance related to year 1.

Call me cynical but i do wonder if there is really a 4 year 200K a week contract on offer. It is way over the odds with what the club have been paying their players and given Wilf's age it is also out of context with the contracts been offered in terms of length to players over 30. I suspect it is a marketing spin as a thank you to Wilf to get him a decent wage in his pursuit of European football. I am not unhappy with this and get this is how the football world rolls.
I also suspect Guehi being linked with Spurs, Aresenal, Liverpool, and Newcastle is along similar lines to get Palace the best possible price. Again it is all part of the transfer process and you can bet any player we are linked with will have interest from West Ham and the like to boost the fee to the selling club.

I can't see where the club is showing any ambition ... five weeks to kick off and just one player taken on to replace all those who've gone.

Wilf has only been out of contract a week but if he is staying he'd have signed up by now. Possibly, our £200k a week offer isn't a straightforward contract? Or is he waiting for our local 'big boys' Arsenal or Chelsea to make an offer? I don't think they ever will.

That quoted 200k a week could pay the wage of 3 new players, rather that then throwing cash at a Player out of sentimental fondness. Need to move quickly & get a replacement in, re-contract Olise & Eze with improved wages & cover the fact that if they choose to move on there's enough in our favour to ask more in return. Has to be more to this, Wilf knows how things work & this 'will he, won't he' show is dragging on too long.

A lot of people are questioning whether the £200k per week offer to Wilf is genuine and others are saying it is madness to offer him that much. However, one way of looking at this, is to regard the offer as comprising of a £14m sign on fee paid at the rate of £70k pw over the four years and keeping his wage at the current £130k per week. That way the Club avoid increasing their wage structure. Also, any new signing to replace Wilf would be likely to cost about £10-20m and the wage would probably be around £100k pw. I know some will still question Wilf's value but this isn't clear cut, as he remains our most dangerous threat and even if he doesn't score 10 or more goals per season his presence on the pitch provides opportunities for the his team.mares when the opposition foul him or double up on him. In short, the case for keeping Wilf can be justified IMO.
However, whatever the decision, I would just like it sorted ASAP.

How did that get in to the public domain anyway
