Imagine it, in nothing short of a stunt to align to ideological nonsense it turns out the whole narrative for its justification is completely ironic… who’d of thought it or seen this coming eh?

Good job nobody else bought into this farce…

Matov take a bow. I think you said and I paraphrase “let this type of thing including ‘woke’ targets etc happen so it can be seen for the s*** show it is”. Been seen a bit quicker than even you thought I reckon

Now for the fire service and police to get their come uppance as well!
When the pendulum swings too far everyone suffers.
The past May have been wrong but as the old adage goes - two wrongs do not make a right!

LOL. Not sure I am worthy of such an accolade.

Oddly enough, when it comes to education at least, I am perhaps a tad more sympathetic to efforts of level things up.

For example, I can remember reading of a programme launched by (I think) St Georges Hospital Medical School.

What they did, and more than happy to have others correct/educate me on this, was take a look at the intake and realised that there was very little representation from London state schools. So they had a scheme whereby they looked at kids applying and rather than insist on say a straight 3 x A* or whatever the criteria was, they looked at the applicants schools results and if the kid was in the top 5% or so of that, they took them on and put extra effort in to bring them up to the standard of others.

And that within a term of two, these London state school kids were up with everybody else.

In terms of a blanket application of lower expectations, then I am fully against it. But in terms of some social engineering then I think flexibility is called for.

The old Grammer school system would have negated much of the need for that but it's gone, and not coming back.

It is better for London hospitals to be staffed with London born and bred Doctors. And if by the time they qualify, and are let loose on the natives, they are up to the required standard then initatives like this one can only be a good thing.

But the RAF thing was an utter disgrace. Shocking.

I would not get too excited about this decision.

There is plenty of wiggle room, colleges could target students from poor urban areas which are predominantly black or Latino and achieve the same result.

In principle the decision though is right.

I grew up poor white working class, my Nigerian mate was the son of a very well off middle class Nigerian family and went to a better school than I did. Why should he get a break and not me?

If you are going to have positive discrimination it should be based on poverty, deprivation and talent regardless of skin tone.

100%. Which is why I quite like the idea about exam results being judged, on some levels, against the school average.

Absolutely agree.

I grew up on the same estate plenty of kids, of other ethnicities, did and we shared the exact same childhood conditions. To be quite frank I have always felt my socio-economic background, especially within my work, has been a far greater tie I've had to colleagues in the same profession than ethnicity, far greater.

It feels as though my being white has been made out to be some sort of seismic cultural gap to distance me from others whereas those of us who grew up with basic street smarts, culture and perhaps the same cynicism that comes with a lower socio-economic upbringing have always had far more in common (and difference from those from more 'privileged' backgrounds) than the shared experience we're often told is determined by race.

I had a Tory scholarship to go to Public school. One thing I thank Thatcher for.
