The British Royal Navy were the first national naval force to intercept slave ships. I also hope they hunt down their own countrypeople who sold the slaves to foreign traders. They took the money, get them to pay it back

This is just like the issue in San Francisco where the council is thinking about reparations for local Afro Americans.

There has been an outcry from Chinese and other Asians saying that they should also be included.

I guess you can call that a new #Metoo campaign.

I'm all in favour of it as I am a victim of the Irish potato famine which was after slavery was abolished so i think I should be first in line.

No, it's a warning and it's coming my lad....I'm not seeing real power being taken from these neo and social liberals.

You will get Starmer in power next year and while it might not happen on his watch this is the direction of travel.

It's all about the history of the past being rewritten and that's all about power transference.....which is a subset of demographic change.

OK, well we'll have to agree that you can continue to agonise over it and I won't.

If individual families and corporations wish to cleanse themselves by paying reparations, that is up to them. But I don’t see why the British taxpayer should be held responsible for things that happened centuries ago. As I have stated and implied elsewhere, go after the sellers of slaves in Africa; their descendants are beneficiaries.

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

Or don't go after anyone. Which is exactly what will happen.

Rome was big on Slavery. Go after modern Italians. A huge proportion of them today are descended from pretty Slav girls & their humpy old Roman Dominus.

Deflection from their overall failure as a continent. Try to stop being tribal or corrupt. They're the kind of countries where 18 trillion would be gone in a week or two. Blaming colonialism is getting a bit long in the tooth now.

I would introduce a voluntary additional tax. If people feel guilty about it, they can pay an extra penny on the pound in income tax.

And offer people a badge they can wear to let us all know. Or a hat.

We could call it the Lineker Tax.
