Delighted as I am (and I am ecstatic) with the win at Manctrafford,
I can't help but smile at how the Holmesdale drifts like a barge between Roy as King and Roy as Pauper.

To be brutally honest, we burgled a lovely three points by adopting the perfect away game plan. That it worked is the only thing that seems to matter to many on here, who were, only one game ago, droning on about 'Royball'.

Well, if it was 'Royball', if that's how it's described, then it was 'Royball' what won it.

Or is it only thus described when we lose?

All you detractors take note.

Royball in this instance was executed to perfection, and as the result proves, was the correct strategy against a "big" team away from home.
I remember many moons ago castigating an Arsenal fan about George Graham's boring tactics, go 1-0 and shut up shop. His response was to mention that they had won the cup and league playing in that manner, and to that I had no answer...

a lot of people hate 'Royball'.

Especially those in Red T Shirts.......for his last 5 visits to Old Trafford.

The difference, though, is that Roy can do stifling football but can switch to a more 'front - foot' approach when he has the players to carry it out.

George Graham's teams were always laid out and performed negatively as it was seen as practical; a bit like the classic 60's Italian model.

The Arsenal fans' song "One-Nil To The Arsenal", which they still sing to this day after they take the lead, is a throwback to the George Graham days.

Never mind the name spelling. The points you make there are spot on. What he pulled off yesterday absolutely sums the man up. Most of our team could be his grand sons, yet he continues to organise and inspire them to performances like that.
No five top internationals to call on in the second half , as his opposition might have had, yet his team ran its self into the ground for him. As you say, “remarkable’”.

Bloody hell, he put it about a bit when he was young then. Fair play to him!

If you look at the last 10 matches from last season and the first 7 this year, the results are impressive. We have won in many different ways, but have always been well organized defensively. Roy and Ray deserve credit for game plans and tactical adjustments. Once we get Olise, Franca, and OE back we could really be a strong side. There is another thread on the site about Brighton being so much better. I’d argue once we are at full strength, we will be the better side. I think if injuries are limited the rest of the campaign and we don’t sell anyone in the January window, we could eye a top 6 finish.

There's no doubt that our Roy 'Hodgson' has the amazing ability to assess what is required to pull off a result and to plan, organise and motivate the team to deliver.

We are truly blessed to have him here.

Let's hope he delivers a win next week against Forest. They didn't look too hot this evening against Brentford.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

If we can just get our injured players back soon then have a bit of luck injury wise then we will have a very good season. We are looking a really solid team.

Interesting hour long interview on fyp podcast with Roy.

It's nice to hear him out of the press conferences.

We have performed poorly at home all season with just one narrow win against Wolves, 3 losses and two draws against teams we should be doing better against, albeit with a substantial injury list for much of this opening period.

I’ve never particularly been a Hodgson fan but now we have the vast majority of players back, I won’t make a decision on current performance until the new year.

There does however need to be much improved performances on the pitch otherwise the current love in will become a little fraught if we don’t pick up at least 6 points in the next three matches, because after that we have Liverpool, Man City, Brighton and a rejuvenated Chelsea and maybe 2 points from those matches might be a reasonable total.

For me the jury is out at present, but understandably so.
