Not entirely correct. There are several opposition voices here speaking out for common sense. Somehow I doubt whether the security services pay any attention, although they might be monitoring any members who participate in the type of counter-protest we saw on Saturday.

Thanks

Perhaps another way to describe them would be the populist right, which is exactly what the government is right now. But to get into the nuances of populism is a whole different kettle of fish that I am not prepared to take on right now. I already did a 10k word dissertation on the rise of populism in western democracy, I'm not doing it again.

Your dissertation sounds as though it may make interesting reading.

I think, without any long analysis or discussion around the nuances, this would at the very least not be a 'bad' suggestion.

In more simpler terms, the current government are those who are trying to remain 'conservative' in their being however have conceded far too much to 'the left' socially, in an attempt to utilise 'populism' for votes (which is astoundingly obvious, they've fooled nobody).

In even more simpler terms, what it has represented from my position is a political stance being blown hither and tither by whichever direction they surmise the wind is blowing, making a mockery of any core ideological bent and leaving the proverbial excrement show playing out on the streets and within the wallets of the majority.

Whilst I am scathing of this, it looks as though the typically more 'left', alternative option, are also doing this in symmetrically concerning fashion. This will pave the way for further pockets of extreme and radical ideology to emerge and surge as two equally incompetent parties jostle for the seat as the least incompetent option.

Very grim prophecy from me. I guess it's only my lack of real grip on this which may mitigate any genuine concern... I certainly hope I am wrong in any instance, but I do worry.

Employers cannot get locals to work for them. Certainly not for any minimum-wage jobs. So they must import a workforce. Added to the enormous numbers who arrive in and go straight onto the Longterm dole. This creates a housing crisis, and thus Irish University leavers all emigrate away....and you have the end of the historic Nation - replaced with something new. Double quick time.

And lucrative jobs ? in Tech Giants......like the Premier League, its an international labour market. Only a very small proportion of those jobs go to irish candidates. Just like the tiny proportion of footballers at Palace who have Grandparents from SE25.

Lucrative Public sector jobs ? see the link below.

1921 Partitioned Ireland into NI and ROI. Two different nations with different identities. Today its difficult to see much difference between the two. The same shops selling the same stuff with the same staff who never heard of Basil Fawlty.

Irish pub mate explained he had a choice be unemployed in the UK or in Ireland. He gleefully told me he chose Ireland because he got more money and didn't have to prove he was looking for work every 2 weeks.

So he was unemployed in Ireland whist telling me this in a pub in Lewisham and he wasn't here for a quick holiday more like for months on end.

It's expensive here - but the Holy Grail is to have a council/ housing association house (rent maybe 35-50 a week) and the dole. Then get extra by saying you suffer from anxiety or depression and voila - the taxpayer pays for the rest of your life. Not a care in the world. You've got maybe 100 spending money a week. Barely anyone working has that.

You think? Judging by his posts, it is probably just the usual left wing nonsense - the sort of thing that universities these days lap up.

Unless it has a gender or diversity aspect then perhaps not. If you can have both then that's the money shot.

what is Oxygen for the Far Right is a perceived lack of fairness in society. For example, dole-heads having a better life than working people. Especially in terms of....
- Leisure time
- procreation & fecundity

- housing
- vehicle ownership

etc etc

I do yes.

Particularly as he mentioned 'the rise of populism in Western Culture'. Whatever bent he has in studying this, it would be relevant to me as I also believe this to be the case and would suggest that is where at lot of your grievances would lie too judging from reading of your own posts.

It's also the reason why I have struggled to see the purpose in really voting anymore. The two main parties wear different coloured ties, which happen to be the two colours of my football club, so nothing to really choose between them.

Haha! Go on, Georgieboy! You tell 'em!!

Your usual considered reasoning. Maybe you and Rolf should enter into a bromance. But, there again, who'd want a single eye between them?

Haha.

Well, as one of the comrades, you would say something like that wouldn't you.
