If my memory serves me correct and I haven’t checked but I’m sure Roy has previously had two shocking runs of 7 or 8 matches with us before before scraping together some wins when we desperately needed them. Well this looks like a third on the cards with the upcoming fixtures and we no longer have our talisman Zaha to get us out the crap.

By the end of December I cannot see us adding to our current points total and that will be 20 matches with 16 points. Roy has for whatever reason picked on the fans without taking any responsibility for his own ineptitude. As someone else has already posted, if the manager turns on the fans it is managerial suicide.

Expect Santa to bring us a new manager and pray he brings 3 or 4 players too.

In his post match comments he stated that Palace fans have been spoilt in the past ! The only thing that has been spoilt for me is the enjoyment of watching Palace under his management. Also one of our own fans threw a bottle at him when walking off at full time . whilst i can understand the frustration i cant condone the action , we are better than throwing bottles at a 76 year old man . Disgraceful

Roy is a wise and experienced manager - I fully expect him to turn things round.

Has to go.
Tonight was again muddled, embarassing and clueless. Taking Lerma off at 0-1 after he had been the only one to have a shot in the 2nd half was a joke.
Chasing the game in the second half, wouldn't Franca have been a better bet than Hughes or Ahamada ??
Shame cos he is a decent guy but who has been hamstrung by Parish's complacency and rubbish recruitment (There are plenty in the fanbase who need to get their heads out of the sand where he is concerned).
We have a bit of slack to the bottom teams, but after December's games ??

Agreed on the bottle throwing, if it’s correct someone did that then hopefully they were caught on camera.

That was one of the most flat games I’ve seen from us and I don’t see where the turning point will come from. Guehi seemed so down past match.

Who is the solution though if we replace Roy?
Same old story come January, a right back and a centre forward please Santa , add to that a manager. All the best Roy, leave with your head still high

I have always been Roy in....after today I'm finding it very hard....

However...The fans were on the players backs from the get go...booing every mistake early on. It was such a wierd game the fans the players the music everything was so disjointed.

It was the first game I was ever seriously considering leaving early. And I've flown over from Dublin for the week for these 3 games booked a hotel and all.

No tactics. Same old dross every week. Play narrow, pack the box, and hope to nick a goal at the other end. When we win, we win by one goal only. When we go a goal behind, there is no plan B.

Bournemouth's manager is on his feet shouting, waving his arms, organising and encouraging his team. Roy looks like an OAP with his hands in his pockets waiting for a bus.

He complains about no resources but wastes the talent he has got. He has no confidence to play any younger players. Franca is 'not ready', never will be if he does not get a kick. Does not even get on in the last 10 minutes, yet Mateta does.

Clueless and outstayed his welcome.

The s*** summer transfer window coming home to roost. The squad just isn’t good enough. Roy will get the blame and the sack, while Teflon Steve and the board escape criticism.
Whoever we bring in, won’t do any better with the unbalanced squad we have.
I suspect Paddy will get the job, as it will once again be the cheap option. We’ll bomb and possibly go down.
Can’t help have one sympathy for Roy, he was stitched up. Though felt he should have retired.
Hang you head in shame Steve Parish , you’ve let down a decent man and the fans. Time to try and sell the club and relinquish control. You can no longer help us compete in this league.

Roy has to go but the root cause of all of this is Parish & the board .

Only one "proper" signing this summer. No replacement for Zaha, no back up at left back, no update on right back, no attempts at resolving the 8 year long striker issue. These aren't Roy faults, they lie with somebody else.

Heard this before asking who else can we get and I don't buy it. There are plenty of managers out there - domestic and abroad - who could bring some inspiration, confidence and tactical changes to our club. Also, it's part of the scouting teams responsibilities to identify this person.

In reality they've had more than a significant amount of time since Viera left to identify someone to take the reigns for the long-term and the recruitment team haven't.

Brighton found De Zerbi, Spurs found Ange, Bournemouth have Iraola. We should be scouting someone like these too to take us forward

What do you think, if we were in the championship! Would we get in the playoffs with this squad?

Roy’s one dimensional, immovable approach is to keep things tight and hope to edge each game. That was useful when the squad almost dictated its necessity however I’d argue it has a different look today. The match against Bournemouth highlighted the following for me, none of which is new or unexpected:

- The players don’t seem to be ‘playing for Roy’
- A lot of the players looked stifled and almost confused as to why this method is being employed
- We cannot defend set pieces
- The plan for actually mounting attacks and getting the ball forward is nonexistent
- Our only identifiable tactic is to have the centre halves pass it between themselves, occasionally inviting danger, and coupled with the above led to both Marc and Joachim actually running the ball forward themselves in lieu of any other tactic or option
- A lack of urgency, commitment, desire, any other descriptor of a similar nature in our play
- The usage of players who seem more malleable to archaic instruction over any flair, youth or inspiration providers
- No on-field leadership
- No real plan for attacking set pieces

Football has changed even over the past few years and Roy is old, very old. He looks far more a dinosaur now than ever. We look like a team that has had any ‘fun’ or unity sapped out of it, a shell of a team trying to follow unfit and outdated instructions. This is where the aversion to youth comes in alongside the lack of flair. Despite quite obviously not having any attacking knowledge Roy prefers players more likely to follow orders than, God Forbid, do anything themselves. This privilege is reserved for few, Wilf before and Eze/Olise now, however can be extremely ineffective and detrimental to both mentality and performance.

Our keeping Roy on was a real cheap move to try and save on the hiring of a manager worthy of expenditure and transfer fees (bizarrely buying players who don’t… play for us) and just keep us going another season. This has backfired badly. We’re as predictable as night following day, we are as boring as the drying paint and we are now losing game after game against weaker opposition.

There’s no sense in keeping Roy, none at all. Him decrying fans for having expectations of winning football matches is the final straw for me, he comes across as a bitter old man with the mental maturity of a teenage girl. He offers no answers or hope and tries to deflect any criticism or acknowledgment of his failings whatsoever, and he is failing badly.

He has to go, I’ll drive him myself, he’s fit to manage nothing here beyond a slide into the championship. Parish et al need to spend on players and they need to replace him. An age old and very generic solution but a necessary one for where we find ourselves currently. We’re getting nothing from this run of fixtures, 2 points would be a shock, and we’ll be in the relegation zone come January. I see that as almost guaranteed. If we see no movement whatsoever on the manager front and in the window, you can consider that a throwing in of the towel.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Agree the root cause is the failure to strenghten the squad. We did this when Viera took over ( we had to as we had something like 10 players out of contract ) and we did this largely well. We all have known for some time our full backs are amongst the weakest in the division and we need a striker who offers something different to Edouard and Mateta (i.e. one with real pace who can run in behind a defense )
Although in his time Roy and Ray clearly know what they are about and what they do Roy is not a spring chicken and is clearly going to have to step down either now or in the relatively near future. I think Parish is still not decided on who is going to be the person to take the club forward after Roy.
Looking at a lot of the other clubs in the division much like everything else in the premier league the managers are some of the best in the world.
Our options seem to be Paddy or Steve Cooper on the presumption he get's sacked by Forest. Both are options but neither is screaming out as a world class manager.
