I think this might be a new record speed for unnecessarily having a pop at a player, well done guys.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Don’t think it’s just physical.

You come on against Man City, it’s not a usual game. You have to concentrate mentally and be made to run round without the ball.

Also the other players were probably knackered too and that is why that have cool-downs, massages etc. if they work very hard at the top end of their fitness and push themselves to the limit they will be aching just the same as us mere mortals.

Who's having a pop at Ozoh on this thread? As I said on other threads, I was at the game and tried to follow Ozoh as much as I could as I rate him as I believe does everyone else who's posted about him.

As was said in an earlier post on this thread, it's good to know we have an 18 year old with the ability to feature seriously in our first team squad.

All of that, though, doesn't mean Ozoh should suddenly become a regular starter. What he showed yesterday was that he's a genuine PL prospect. I expect to see him given more time off the bench; possibly given a start against Everton in the cup and I hope he'll get some PL starts later in the season.

Just saying Roy needs to consider him rather than putting his young player blinkers on as per usual.

I don't think anyone who has seen him playing for the youth teams will be that surprised that he did so well. His physicality for an 18-yard old combined with a turn of speed and controlled aggression, plus a calm head say to me he's got a bright future. The reality is with our current injuries if no-one returns from injury for Thursday then he may have to start. He certainly did more than Jairo who looked lost.

Ozoh played quite well - battled hard won some good tackles and constantly showed for the ball.

We will only find out if they’re good enough by playing them. And with Roy that’ll only happen if we have an injury crisis, which is a pity. How inspiring would it be to get a start (as could have happened risk-free in the last 7 games of the last season ) because you are deemed good enough?

I was going to say the same thing. Whenever I started a new job I would be exhausted it would take several days to get over that, it was simple mental tiredness because I was concentrating on not making a mistake.

Roy will understand that and kudos to Ozoh for admitting it. In time he will start to relax (not too much I hope).

100%. Its definitely not jsut physical. A huge step, and huge pressure for a young man, coming into a team performing poorly.

If injuries permit, we need to ease him into this. Its just a shame that he's not got a CD next to him to help talk him through it.

I may be wrong (apologies - memory not what it was) but you have posted on this before in like manor about snowflake players and were answered.

It is not about needing to man up. It is about elite athletes having to be 100% to play. 98% and the margins at that level are so tight, they don't play.

And it is not them who decides.

Unless you were playing against Michael Jordan, Will Carling and Ryan Giggs then I don't think you can really sympathise with the intensity they're going at.

Gallagher covered 12.5km in a game against City when he was here. When you consider that the ball is out of play for about 30 minutes, the midfield are doing a 5:00 minute/km pace whilst being in possesion, being in the exact correct position defensively and having many stop/start sprints. It's not like doing a 5km/minute steady jog (not a bad pace) thinking about the shopping list.

For a guy who mostly plays U21 football and whose body is still growing, it's not surprising that would be a lot.

When a new player appears in the Premiership the big clubs go into overdrive. Their analysts unpick every aspect of play to find weak spots and inexperience. They then train their players not only to take advantage but to make sure they dig hard at those weak spots. The idea is to prevent the player fully developing and always having weaknesses.

How people fail to understand the dangers of using players too early is beyond me. Especially regularly so other teams get enough data
