That’s what happens when people are bored I suppose, and much as it pains me to say, the weed have had bigger fish than us to fry in Europe this season

Both sets of players didn't play like it was a rivalry that's for sure. Palace fans, bar the HF are too worried to actually back the team it seems. The fear of losing to them and the style of play really doesn't help, especially when they had the ball for 42 of the 50 minutes that the second half lasted. Until we actually give them a game I don't see the atmosphere being great against them. One tackle by Clyne got everyone buzzing for a couple of minutes, but that was it.
Also focusing solely on Dunk let's the rest of them off scot free to play unhindered. For years Wilf took the pressure off of all the others cos the opposition made him the Pantomime villain and he took the flak. It really must help the rest of the team cos they ain't getting abused or rattled and like Wilf, Dunk takes it all on his shoulders and we think we're being funny and clever by abusing him. It's becoming the Dunk rivalry now as we make the same mistake they did for years and made it all about Zaha.

That's Life
And as funny as it may seem
Some people get their kicks stompin' on a Dream.
KEEP THE FAITH!!!!!

Atmosphere has been dire for a while now. I hear the same from alot of other fans from other premier league clubs these days too.

A lot of fans go to games now to watch Prem football. (Tourists) a lot of membership is purchased by non supporting fans who go to games for the experience.

You get fans who attend the odd game so the passion, commitment and general enthusiasm to sing/chant and add to the atmosphere isn’t there.

I would think that supporters of any club go fairly quite when their team is at home and is playing on the back foot and defending for the greater part of the second half, which was the case on Thursday night.

I am sure the atmosphere would have been considerably better if Palace had given Brighton a game in the 2nd half instead of allowing themselves to be pushed deeper and deeper and conceding possession the whole time.

I think all of us watching the game could see that equaliser coming a mile off, and one home win, to date, is not good enough.

I've just finished watching West Ham v Man Utd.

Awful atmosphere with double our crowd.

A lot of football is like this now, all seater stadiums, family friendly, mum, dad and the kids hardly make for an old fashioned hostile atmosphere

I agree with most of these comments and also confirms my belief that for a so called fierce rivalry being bigged up by Sky for the neutral before the game they must have thought, what was that all about. Our home form has been poor for years now even when I had a season ticket up to 2019 but I think it has gradually worn down our vocal support and we need to stop deluding ourselves about the special atmosphere at Selhurst Park now, some new songs might help as well.

A lot of it just comes down to how unbalanced/unfair the league is. We all know the top 6-7 clubs, and it's almost impossible to compete with them. Sometimes a lucky and ambitious club will break into the top 5-6, but it's pretty unlikely.

So everyone else is just trying to avoid relegation. That was our mission at the start of the season, in no unspoken terms. It's hard for fans to get excited about, "Hey, let's try to average 1 point per game, spend no money, and barely scrape by for another year."

The concept of fair competition is long gone.

2020 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Newcastle

The changing face of football. Even Anfield is going down that road. Selhurst is still like a cult icon of the past, especially in the AW

Yep agree with what everyone is saying. I’m in the Main Stand with my sons. First half atmosphere was okay - second half…..non existent! It was like everyone knew what was going to happen.

Better atmosphere when we play away.

I went to West Ham away and the atmosphere there was insipid too. Let’s face it do you atmosphere at home is rubbish and for good reason, because we play rubbish football. Once again, we saw a complete lack of ambition in the second half; rather than go for the match and try and win it by bringing on someone like Franca we had the usual Roy ball tactics.
