They very much looked a team decimated by injuries however the three points was the most important thing.

Eze looks unfit still, or not 100%, but both he and of course MO looked absolutely class today. It’s the best I’ve ever seen JPM play for us and was very encouraging.

I’m massively relieved and thrilled. Well done lads, much needed but deserved win.

COYP!!!!!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Problem is that Roy is just plain out of touch. They get 5 sets of fresh legs and it immediately changes the whole balance. Credit to our guys for hanging in there. But this is why we get so many injuries. Needlessly overworked players

Yep - that’s the problem - Roy’s game management is just so poor..!!

I’m delighted with the win but lets not kid ourselves here - against a very poor Brentford side - ravaged by injuries.

Yet somehow we made them look good in the last 20, when they were there to be put to the sword - why because Roy won’t use his subs - consequently we’re running out of legs..!!

Just typical Roy and that’s what’s been happening for weeks..!!

For me todays game and result just papers over the cracks - Roy is still so stubborn in that he will not make use of the potential that is available to him..!!

No doubt today would have saved his neck - but you can see from the last 20 - what there is to look forward to for the rest of the season - same old, same old - when the potential is there - just so frustrating.

Yes we’ll stay up but it will be totally uninspiring and painful to watch..!!

As I said at the start of the game - irrespective of the result I’d still replace Roy - but it won’t happen..!!

Parish quite happy he doesn’t have to spend any money - whilst all we’ve got to look forward to for the rest of the season is abject mediocrity..!!

Everyone knows Roy's history of late subs and I doubt he will change his approach until we have a greater safety margin than perhaps todays wins gives us?
However, only just now during the pre KO to the Man U/Forrest game have the studio pundits pointed out that Erik XXXX had to introduce two youngsters, Garnacho an teenager Mainoo, who according to Michael Dawson, "we may not have seen for two years had injuries not forced his inclusion"
Yes, by all means exercise caution Roy, but what's the point of bringing subs on in the 89th min?

Give Ozoh and/or Franca a run v Arsenal - nowt much to loose!

5 lots of fresh legs for Brentford and you wonder why we are defending. Players are nackered and Roy's taking his usual forever to sub even 1 player. Bloody ridiculous.

Absolutely, a decent reactive manager will know who he’s going to sub on and off as soon as he sees his counterpart react. Palace looked knackered and Roy did nothing, very similar in fact to previous games and our awful season record of 9 points dropped in last 15 minute performances.

We were obviously running on fumes after the same players playing Weds then today and Brentford’s injection of pace and bringing on Maupay in particular almost swung the game back in their favour.

For those who say Roy is an amazing manager and wise old owl, he sure looks lost and unsure when it comes to seeing games out. I don’t subscribe to the idea that none of our bench is capable of coming on and seeing the game out because half of the bench have been starters at some point in the season.

1) Keeping Mateta on the bench for so long this season – as he watched Edouard scoring – may have motivated him to work harder and play better than he ever has. He was a pleasure to watch today.

2) Ayew may be the greatest bargain in the League in terms of (value to his club)/(salary).

3) Olise's work rate continues to impress, along with everything else.

4) Hughes and Franca should have come on at least 10 minutes sooner.

5) Solid play by Mitchell and Clyne minimized the work needed from Andersen, Guehi, and Richards.

6) Referee seemed more fair and consistent than in many matches.

Admittedly been rather negative here last few days but a great win today and Olise had a fantastic game.

This win by no means puts Hodgson safe and clear of criticism however I'll never not be happy at a win and very much hope we can build on this into the new year.

Mate the point is - we could do so much better - it’s Roy and his negativeness that’s holding us back..!!

It’s not that I don’t like him - Im just frustrated and sure that with a more progressive Manager we could/would be doing so much more..!!

That’s the issue..!!

Olise left the field early clutching his hamstring. Was in tears at the end and consoled by his team mates. Roy was warned by the Medical Team three times not to overwork him. Hopefully it’s not too long this time.

Mateta played a stormer today. He should definitely start ahead of Edouarde.

Agreed, I thought Mateta had a good game today.
