Sorry, but outside of all the problems with the ownership and hierarchy at the club, Roy deserves to go because of the tactics.

A flat back five with no pace in the team other than Eze? Madness. Just asking for a team like Arsenal to tear us apart. That's why he's got to go for me.

I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry.

Exactly, and it's not only one game. Every game is deja vu. To be that predictable is just inviting sides to exploit our obvious weaknesses. We're not the best, we're quite poor as a side but we could do better with what we have. Roy is not being pragmatic, more like stubborn. I also think the players have had enough - so Roy will go within 48 hours.

I've just posted this in answer to Lanzo's question as to whether we expect Roy to be in charge of the next game and whether we will make any signings of any kind this window.

"Sadly, yes and no in that order. I say sadly regarding Hodgson because I think he's too stubborn to change the way he sets us up and that means IMO that we are unlikely to win the games needed to stay up.

Last calendar year we conceded the first goal in more games than any other PL team (for the 3rd time in about 7 years) yet Hodgson still sets us up to try and not concede goals!"

It seems to me that his arrogance is increaingly showing through in his public statements and answers to questions.

You must have watched a different game to me . Arsenal didnt even have a shot on target in open play until they scored the third , hows that being torn apart ?
There was absolutely nothing wrong with the way we set up with the players on the pitch . As Roy said before the game , he had to change the system he normally plays so he could get his best players out there .
Now you may disagree with who our best players are , I would have changed a couple myself but the tactics were sound .
We were undone by set plays and weak defending but we have done that to death in the match thread so I'll leave it at that .

Roy has my support because he is the manager of Crystal Palace and will have it while that is the case . A toxic atmosphere at games will only end way and the protesters will have an opposite effect of what they are protesting about whatever that is .

I get the anger at the fragmented boardroom and the lack of support they give the team to move forward but Roy is doing a great job with the cards he has been dealt .He and the team need our support and with it we might just get out of the mess this club is in that is none of his doing

And we still need a striker

The board may be a big part of the problem, but you can't change that over night. You can change the manager.

Roy no longer makes us hard to beat, but sets up to make it hard for us to win. We've won two games in the last 15. One against a Burnley team who had lost every single game at home prior to playing us and Brentford's B team who had lost the previous five games, with Olise's outstanding performance masking what was not actually that good a performance.

This season I would argue we've only seen Roy's tactics really work against City and United. Other than that we've either been a bit fortunate or we've lost. Olise and Eze have masked a lack of offensive tactics and the loss of Doucoure has meant the park the bus routine hasn't worked. Roy has struggled to adapt to the injuries and instead has doubled down on tactics that have frustrated the fans and increasingly it seems the players too. For all Vieira's failings I never saw the team throw in the towel like they did in the last 10 minutes yesterday.

I felt really sorry for Roy yesterday, but it was more pity than any belief he's been treated unfairly. He is sucking all life out of the club and things need to change.

I have had some conversations today apropos Mr Hodgson.

There were those who asserted that the injuries to Olise have been hugely damaging and the fact that Olise and Eze (Who has also been injured) have hardly played together has also been a signifiant factor.Furthermore the loss of Doucoure has been damaging.

In terms of team selection it was opined that with the overall depth of the squad, and our position in the table, there was an understanding as to why there has been reliance on the tried and trusted experienced heads over some of the younger players. The discussion gravitated on to the academy and some of the fringe players and the consensus was that a number have been loaned out but have not been that impressive.

Without the backing of the fans that will not be pretty.

Whenever we experience a poor run the kind of comments to be read in this thread get written. I am so glad supporters don’t run our football club.

We aren’t Arsenal, or any other club you care to mention. We are Palace. A club I have supported for 70 years so am able to put a couple of bad months into their proper context. We nearly went out of business but since then have managed the longest run in the world’s best league in our history. Which includes a spell in the 4th Division.

We are trying to modernise an old stadium and have established a wonderful academy to tap the local potential. We are not at risk of points deductions because of over spending and are directed by a devoted fan and managed by a very experienced, unflappable and hugely respected senior figure in world football.

That Director hasn’t got buckets of free cash to chuck at problems. The manager knows that and is doing what is pragmatic in difficult circumstances. If between them they believe another direction will likely yield a better chance of survival then a change might be made. If they can find someone capable of working in these circumstances.

Criticism is a cheap and abundant commodity. Cool heads and common sense in a crisis less so. Whatever is decided we need to show respect and support. That’s our role. I wonder how the players are reacting to the criticism but I cannot imagine it helping them.

For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally.

So if the next 10 years mirrored the last would you still be happy with just surviving as a dreary team in a division where we're just a number?

I think your missing the point. I don't think us fans are asking for much other than push the teams who are pushing for a Europer league conference spot. A little bit of ambition to push up rather than look to scrape just above the bottom teams year after year. It's annoying that other clubs are coming up and doing great things while we just stay static! Even Brentford made the teams gunning for European conference crap them selves last season and narrowly missed out on a spot by 2 points! We don't come close!

Yes, thanks for letting us know we're all stupid. It's not like the team is playing dog poo in front of our own eyes. Cool heads would and will sack Roy when they analyse the performances. That's the life of a football manager. Roy knows it too.

I disagree. They lacked the killer touch yes, but that's been Arsenal all over. The Trossard effort at the end of the first half sums about just how much he and Saka were a menace all game. Unlucky not to score more. So in control.

I get your point about adjustment and shots on targets, but I raise two points.
First, Richards was useless as a right sided centre back. Should have been a pivot or better in midfield. He did so well there against Manchester City. Lerma could have been pushed forwards had Richards been in the midfield.
Second, we didn't have a single shot inside the box or even an effort that I remember, so I don't think the tactics were warranted.

I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry.
