We did have a Plan B: 'Knock it up the field to Ayew!'
That was after Plan A: 'Knock it up the field to Wilf!' became compromised.

But all joshing aside, the message that's leaked out that Roy is on the naughty step with the last grains of sand running through the hourglass... nothing but PR I reckon

Be where you are; otherwise you will miss your life.

See you in the Championship next season!!

You have completely missed his point (or just chosing to ignore because its not want you want to hear). What he is getting at is the main reason for our poor form is a terrible injury list that has gone on all season so far. Had we had Olise and Eze and Doucoure available for the whole of this season we would be 8 to 10 points better off and no one would be talking about relegation whether they hate Roy's style of football or not. That is a fact.
I'd only agree with the 'see you in the Championship next season' comment if the injury problems go on for the rest of the season.

Could well be the placation of fans to keep the ship steady as possible whilst they see out the only available plan of Roy staying 'til the end of the season.
Could well be an attempt to light a fire underneath the coaching staff/team.
Could well be a very easy narrative to concoct for clickbait journalists, we're in trouble, so doubt upon the manager's position is very far from unbelievable.
Could be an owner wanting to be seen as doing something even if all his options and avenues are closed.
Could well be a true reflection of the reality.

Who knows? Nobody knows.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I can't see a change being made before Monday.
Preparations are well underway for the Chelsea game.

It will be a strange atmosphere, in particular if it's his usual lineup and tactics and we fall behind early again.

I suspect both Hodgson and Parish will feel harshly treated by the fans even if there is some justification for the anger.
In my memory this is the first time there's been such a large reaction against Parish and the way the club is run.

Both Hodgson and Parish must have much thicker skin than me as I'd be hiding in the cupboard with my fingers in my ears.

Reading between the lines of what is being rumoured in the Brighton aftermath - Steve Cooper has been offered and will accept the Palace job but would like it to be more convenient timing for him.

In other words - get Chelsea (maybe even Everton away) out the way and he's in. Perfect storm for him as his first game would be Burnley and he would also have a better idea of how the table is looking in 1 or 2 games and how much breathing space he actually has to turn around the results

I dont believe for a single minute that Cooper has been approached. If he had been I believe he'd be holding talks and then take it.
It seems fans on here have a very low opinion of the attraction of the managers job at Palace. We are a Premiership club. We are in London. We have some good players. The manager's salary is very competitive. Right now we are not in any serious danger of relegation. Its the next round of fixtures that will decide that.
I'd say Palace for reasons mentioned is probably in the top 15 most desirable jobs in England.
I can understand if a manager is contracted elsewhere until the summer. Or (like we're hearing with Potter) he is expecting/hoping for a bigger job offer but Cooper? For a start I dont rate him anyway but if he was offered it, even right now with the current injuries I think he'd jump at it.
Hopefully there is no truth in it.

Also sensible post.

You can probably categorize fans by reference to their expectations. Man City expect to win by a margin and generally do. Man Utd have the precise same expectation but generally don't. Arsenal fans arrogantly expect to beat "smaller" clubs and also complain when they don't, but they do so in such a monotone, soporific way that you can neither drive nor handle heavy machinery if you are unlucky enough to be within earshot. Newcastle fans are the epitome of fantastical over-expectation against spectacular underachievement. And poor Millwall fans, being only partially evolved, instinctively punch and kick the nearest person regardless of performance.

Our lot are raucous and loyal but, having lived with disappointment for so long, have an expectation of failure ingrained in our DNA. The media largely shares and amplifies that.

Thus, don't be surprised by the number of pessimists predicting the drop. It's what we are.

If true, and Hodgson & Co know, can you think of anything more demotivating?

I understand your reasoning, but I just don't think that Roy has been the real problem. Losing Eze, Olise and most significantly, Doucoure has been a much bigger factor.

Of course I sometimes disagree with his decisions, but I'm not sure if there has ever been a manager where I didn't.

I think Monday night will be like an episode of the Masked Singer. Prior to the game three characters in costumes will appear on the pitch. They will be a beer barrel, a koala bear and a geriatric old goat.

With their voices disguised they will each state their case to be appointed as manager of Palace.

As the crowd shout take it off, take it off, take it off the beer barrel removes his head and it is Steve Cooper (barrel - cooper, get it?) He receives mild applause.

Next up is the koala bear. Take it off, take it off, take it off. To everybody's surprise it is Tony Popovic who comes to his senses and tells Parish where to keep the job.

The only one left is the senile old goat. Nobody shouts take it off this time as by now we all know we are stuck with this character until the end of the season.
