I am pretty sure in the commentary in the Sheffield Utd game it was mentioned we have not scored from a corner all season. Why is that ? We had plenty or corners against Sheffield United and a number for Olise seemed to target Birnie's head on the 6 yard box so he could head it clear. We did try a few short corners which seemed more effective but still no goals. It is clear we don't really have much of an aerial threat with our team as a whole. Lerma seems to have a good leap and Schlupp has run on to set piece crosses in the past and headed in goals but Guehi and Anderson don't seem much of a threat.

Hopefully any new manager will either have ideas of his own or the club will bring in a set piece coach - the current waste of attacking imagination & direction of corners, free kicks & throw ins (& the ability to defend them) is absolutely ridiculous for a club playing at this level.

Clearly not a priority for Roy. This is where someone needs to intervene. Dougie/ Parish has to act if Roy won't. There are supposed to be analysts' meetings - that would show our stats are not only the worst in the league but also massively the worst in the league. I've posted it before but it's also free kicks. I think it's maybe two goals all season (off the top of my head). For example on this, Ayew has won 69 free kicks. He's usually out wide and attacking. I believe from that 69 it's either one goal or none. None from 69 - I believe something like 1 in 10 is around what is expected. Something similar from corners. These aren't the exact statistics but they're not far off. The only free kicks we threaten from are Eze or Olise taking a shot outside the area. That doesn't take any coaching - just a bit of practice. Red and Blue Army!

It's fairly obvious - Hodgson and Lewington don't coach, or have any idea how to, coach set plays. If they did then we wouldn't be having this discussion.

I think 'give it to Wilf' changed to 'give it to Ebz/Olise' but beyond that, there's no real strategy for putting the ball into the back of the net or even moving it up the pitch.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I agree. Fortunately they have chanced upon another string to their bow, Mateta has found the ability to hold the ball up. All pretty basic stuff, but every little helps.

I agree. Fortunately they have chanced upon another string to their bow, Mateta has found the ability to hold the ball up. All pretty basic stuff, but every little helps.
