According to Italian reporter Romano, Crystal Palace are now closing in on a deal to sign Real Betis defender Chadi Riad. The 20-year-old has already said yes to the Eagles, with the capital club now finalising the finer details... "Crystal Palace are closing in on deal to sign Chadi Riad from Real Betis as new centre back. Understand formal proposal has been sent for €12m plus €2m add-ons, deal being finalised between clubs. Chadi Riad already said yes to #CPFC. Here we go, soon."

If this signing goes ahead I believe it is likely Guehi will be sold which doesn’t bother me if we keep our other stars! Having said that I’d rather let Doucoure go for the right deal.

Or - given he is only 20 - a squad replacement for Tomkins. Just need a Jairo one and comp for Mitchell. I know everyone probably wants a new striker too, but I suspect resources and financial rule enforcement may mean we try and get a better tune out of Eddy and hope the kids/Franca comes through.

Not sure what this signals. If he is a replacement for Tomkins or Rieldewald then that's a fair amount of money for just a squad player. Or is this an indication that Guehi is leaving ? We have shown that we can cope without Guehi, and there would be plenty of takers for him. Could possibly see him go back to Chelsea with Thiago Silva leaving.

With Tomkins leaving and probably Guehi being sold that will leave just 3 natural centre half’s in Andersen, Richards and Holding (who has never been fit), so I would anticipate a couple of new players in this position despite Ward/Clyne and a re-positioned Lerma being capable of playing in that position. Assuming we sign a couple at £15m each and sell Guehi for £50m+ that will still leave a chunk to reinvest elsewhere. It looks like Ryad is in the Andersen mould and left footed so could be another inspired purchase at just 20 years of age.

Indeed - sounds like another very savvy bit of business. Interestingly, his name has been kept well below the radar which is the typical Freedman way of doing things; age profile/potential also fits the Palace mould which has been so successful in recent years.

If he is a Guehi replacement, turns out to be a suitable one, we sell Guehi for a considerable price and his stock rises in similar fashion, would represent fantastic business by the club. Optimistic perhaps but I believe there is reason for it.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

At 6ft 3 tall he would sound useful in our quest to have better statistics on both corners & set pieces.

Sound a good signing if true. Obviously a Freedman signing so does this this mean he is staying at CPFC.
