Palace 0 - 0 Huddersfield Town

Tuesday April 3 2001 - League

Palace failed to score in a goal-less game at a rain-swept Selhurst Park, despite having 21 goal attempts to Huddersfield's nine.

Clinton Morrison, Mikael Forssell and David Hopkin all had good chances to win it for The Eagles, but could not put them away.

Palace and Huddersfield shared the points in a crucial battle to avoid the drop. Both sides played with caution in a scrappy first half.

The first chance was for Morrison, who fired wide from 20 yards after 19 minutes. At the other end, Dutchman Dean Gorre saw his shot go over and Delroy Facey saw his 20-yard shot saved by Alex Kolinko.

In the second half, Palace were the better team and Morrison and Forssell forced Huddersfield keeper Nico Vaesen to make a few good stops.

On the hour mark, it was again Morrison whose shot went wide, followed by attempts from Matthew Upson and Hopkin.

Huddersfield's best chance in the second half came from Facey who headed wide. With five minutes to go, Morrison shuold have won it for Palace. He was played onside, with only the keeper to beat, but Vaesen magnificently saved and ensured the Terriers came away with a point.

The Eagles are 19th in the Nationwide Division One, two points clear from a relegation spot.
