Eagles suffer injury time draw

Crystal Palace were cruelly denied a vital win after Bristol City grabbed a stoppage time equaliser to draw 1-1.

Victory would have moved the struggling Londoners out of the relegation zone after Neil Danns had fired them into a second minute lead.

But Julian Speroni felled Danny Rose in the penalty area and sub Brett Pitman converted the 94th-minute spot-kick.

The Eagles had the perfect start as Danns was fouled by Kalifa Cisse on the edge of the box and the midfielder beat David James with a free-kick rocket.

Danny Haynes hit a post for the home team before Danns forced James to tip over his effort.

Both sides traded shots on goal, but despite Speroni saving well from Albert Adomah in the 85th minute, it was Palace who looked like they were going home with maximum points.

However in the fifth minute of time added on Speroni, so often the saviour for Palace, conceded the penalty which Pittman scored to deny Palace only their second away win of the season.

Bristol City: James, Skuse, Caulker, Cisse, Nyatanga, Adomah, Johnson, Elliott, Campbell-Ryce (Pitman 58), Haynes (Clarkson 76), Stead (Rose 76).

Not Used: Gerken, Stewart, Sproule, Edwards.

Palace: Speroni, Clyne, Davis (Barrett 46), McCarthy, Wright, Zaha, Danns, Counago (N'Diaye 88), Bennett, Andrew, Scannell (Obika 90).

Not Used: Price, Dorman, Cadogan, O'Keefe.
