We are 1-0 down to a good Blackburn side at HT.

Started sluggishly and got punished on the counter.

Started to work our way back into the game, hitting the inside of the post from a cross cum shot, then on 60 minutes Blackburn GK got sent off for an edge of the box type collision - Blackburn reshuffled & largely coped well considering being a man down, but eventually Palace made the advantage in numbers tell, first equalizing, then a few minutes later JWM scored a penalty, finally Finn Moody makes sure of the points with the third - all 3 of the goals coming from good work on the right cutting in & driving towards the 6 yard box (Jadon Raymond mostly)-

My thoughts were that if the game had stayed 11 vs 11 then we would have probably considered ourselves grateful to have come away with a 1:1 draw, Blackburn were strong & well organized -

Blackburn dealt with everything well, and looked likely to hold on.

Tayo Adamarola is a real steam-roller though, bombing up and down the left, and an assist and the penalty down to him.

Umeh, rapidly promoted from the U18s, with the opener.

5 victories in a row, now 3rd - 2 points behind Chelsea with a game in hand.

If only the texts from the first team games were as good.

He got some press a while back (before signing professional terms) linking him with some major clubs. I've liked the bits I've seen of him so it's good to hear he's still progressing. So many of these young lads create a buzz and then vanish, Nya Kirby being one of the more recent ones that comes to mind.

I have been following the U21s most closely than usual this season - maybe because they are doing so well! Particularly, when you consider those away on loan like - Rak Saki, Phillips, Banks, Boateng, Plange, o Brien, Street and Ebiowe.

I would still bet that, at most, only 1 or 2 will have a long term future at the club. Nia Kirby is a great example - a youth World Cup winner with England but did make the final step up with us.

Maybe we are becoming the new Chelsea. Producing young players that are loaned out for income or sold to lesser clubs for reasonable money. Perhaps, that is the model for most Level 1 academies?

Yes, it's hard to believe that someone who won 10 caps at England U-19 level would be out of the professional game at 22. Did he go abroad?

Perhaps we ruined him. Perhaps we're improving with our academy?
