I thought I would start a thread. So did the women get screwed by the government in 2010, yup. However so did the men including me although not as bad as the women. I don't really buy into the "we never knew" the government ran a TV and newspaper campaign as well as sending letters out. No doubt some people did not receive a letter and never look at TV or the papers but the idea that hundreds of thousands of women didn't know I am skeptical about. Anyway they want 10k and the commission says they should get circa 3k and the government says no and Labour has gone quiet. You might think I am unsympathetic I'm not. I was born Dec 1960 and every major pension change always starts with those born after April 1960 will have to.... I do think from the start the WASPI campaign has had a major flaw. Compensating them for their loss would cost the taxpayer 35bn the whole point of the changes was to save money on pensions. It is not often pointed out by journalists but this generation of women statistically are the richest group of women so far. So many of them are comfortable and do not need a massive handout from the taxpayer. I think their campaign then should have focused on the smaller group of hardship cases which I don't doubt exist. I think that would have resonated far more with the public and the politicians.

I’m struggling with this one. If there’s been any screwing as the OP suggests it’s all of us, men and non identifiers included.

Don't forget there have been multiple court cases over this which WASPI have lost. The report by the Ombudsman actually goes against those rulings. I believe it is still billions if the government agrees to 3k per person which is why Labour who said in the 2019 election they would solve this is keeping quiet. I have no doubt this was shabby treatment but as I said earlier every time the government raises taxes somebody gets screwed. My guess is that Labour will not agree to fund everybody as there are a lot of middle class women in this group. I think they will focus on the women at the bottom who are in dire straits and I would be okay with that. I am not keen on bailing out those of the Jam and Jerusalem set.
