Agree that Sorloth deserves a start for a change. He caused Arsenal and Spurs problems when he came on and helped us finish both games strongly. He is young, adapting and far more of a physical threat from crosses than Ayew (who I thought worked hard against Spurs, the defensive mistake aside). We are far too quick to judge players. Sorloth has only generally had 10 or 20 minutes as a sub here and there in the league so it is harsh to ask him to work wonders. Although he has started in the League Cup matches and was apparently poor against Middlesborough, that was with our second string, let's see what he can do in our best XI.

We are far too quick to judge players. Sorloth has only generally had 10 or 20 minutes as a sub here and there in the league so it is harsh to ask him to work wonders. I think a lot of people wouldn’t mind seeing this team lineup as it has balance with players in their correct positions. Can’t see Roy going down this route, however, and I question if he’s happy with the squad despite him saying it’s a strong squad. It’s largely made up of 1) solid professionals from whom you know what you’re going to get - Luka, Mcarthur,Tomkins,Townsend 2) brilliant talents who have to play - Zaha,AWB 3) talented players with flaws which prevent them being at a top club - Sakho,PVA 4) permanent bench warmers - Puncheon,Riedewald 5) players who cannot contribute through loss of form/injury- Benteke,Wickham 6) players who are never going to play and can just about get on the bench for league cup games - Kai Kai and Williams. 7) players who Roy doesn’t seem to know how to use - Sorloth,Meyer,Ayew. Roy is a pragmatic manager and realistically and seems happy to work with players largely in the first three categories. This is quite a small squad and restricts choices and tactics. I don’t know what the solution is because I cannot see 3/4 players coming in the window, and even if they did would Roy use them?

I think a lot of people wouldn’t mind seeing this team lineup as it has balance with players in their correct positions.
Can’t see Roy going down this route, however, and I question if he’s happy with the squad despite him saying it’s a strong squad.
It’s largely made up of
1) solid professionals from whom you know what you’re going to get - Luka, Mcarthur,Tomkins,Townsend
2) brilliant talents who have to play - Zaha,AWB
3) talented players with flaws which prevent them being at a top club - Sakho,PVA
4) permanent bench warmers - Puncheon,Riedewald
5) players who cannot contribute through loss of form/injury- Benteke,Wickham
6) players who are never going to play and can just about get on the bench for league cup games - Kai Kai and Williams.
7) players who Roy doesn’t seem to know how to use - Sorloth,Meyer,Ayew.
Roy is a pragmatic manager and realistically and seems happy to work with players largely in the first three categories.

I would play Sorloth. The way Roy plays. ..practically the whole team defending. ...we need someone up front who's going to hold the ball up and give other players a chance to get forward. All we seem to be doing at ghd moment is giving the ball to Wilf and andros and off they go as fast as they can and have to try and beat three or four players. Whilst Sorloth isn't the best forward in the world, he has shown signs that he can hold the ball up and bring other players into the game. Abd who knows, given a run in the team and growing confidence, he may turn out ok..

I would play Sorloth.
The way Roy plays. ..practically the whole team defending. ...we need someone up front who's going to hold the ball up and give other players a chance to get forward. All we seem to be doing at ghd moment is giving the ball to Wilf and andros and off they go as fast as they can and have to try and beat three or four players. Whilst Sorloth isn't the best forward in the world, he has shown signs that he can hold the ball up and bring other players into the game. Abd who knows, given a run in the team and growing confidence, he may turn out ok..

To be fair, that just about describes 75% of the teams in this division..

His methods have served him well over his long career so it’s difficult to be too critical.
But it is a valid question as to whether he he is getting the maximum out of the squad.

I have begun to notice that whilst attacking in Open play a lot of the time there are still 3 men behind the half way line. If they pushed up to beyond halfway the defenders of the opposition go back and we can attack in the middle of their box, not on the edge. That 8-10 yards makes a big difference to delivery of the ball into our attack. Im not sure if it because roy is playing for a 0-0 or our defenders dont trust each other.

Sadly I think it has now got to this point. I think he assumes if we go one down, we're unlikely to get anything from the game, so defend in depth and hope wilf or andros can do something special.

This is based on Tomkins and Benteke being injured. If fit, both woukd start in my team. Guaita AWB. Kelly. Sakho. PVA Wilf. Meyer. Luka. Kouyate. Townsend Sorloth I just want us to start with 4-5-1 with Townsend and Wilf constantly changing wings, and occasionally playing narrow, like inside forwards. Luka is doing okay but is almost Jedinak-esque with his occasional sloppiness. I believe in him, and think he'll produce some great displays, but he needs to do that. I like Sorloth. I accept he's a championship player...and even comically frightened of/bad at heading a long ball, but he has something about him. When we came up, we had lot of championship players -- Murray, Bolasie, Speroni, Punch, Jedinak, Ward. If any of them had gone to an established PL club at that time, their fans would have slaughtered them. But they had enough at that time to be good PL players. Sorloth just needs for us to believe in him, and to have a little more conviction himself. They just needed time and support. If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

I like Sorloth. I accept he's a championship player...and even comically frightened of/bad at heading a long ball, but he has something about him. When we came up, we had lot of championship players -- Murray, Bolasie, Speroni, Punch, Jedinak, Ward. If any of them had gone to an established PL club at that time, their fans would have slaughtered them. But they had enough at that time to be good PL players.

Sorloth just needs for us to believe in him, and to have a little more conviction himself. They just needed time and support.

I have read this about 6ft 4in striker Andreas Cornelius who Malky Mackay signed for Cardiff in the Premier League.Cornelius only last 6 months at Cardiff - went on to play for Copenhagen and Atalanta and now plays for Bordeaux in the top French division.Corneluis said : "It was a big deal, I had just turned 20 and came straight from the Danish League to the Premier League, it's a very big step," the 25-year-old added. I have read this about 6ft 4in striker Andreas Cornelius who Malky Mackay signed for Cardiff in the Premier League.Cornelius only last 6 months at Cardiff - went on to play for Copenhagen and Atalanta and now plays for Bordeaux in the top French division.Corneluis said :
