I am going to ditch sky soon. I am now paying £80pm for skysports multi room movies and kids package, this is discounted until August and at that point it goes up to £105. Apparently sky do there discounts on a Thursday evening so if your going to threaten to leave do it then. Alternatively disconnect and wait for a call from love digital from the Croydon area,my mate done this and got skysports phone line broadband HD for £25pm on a 12month contract.
This roller coaster I am on just won't stop. |

I moved away from sky ages ago as it just ain't worth the subscription, endless repeats and with downloading and streaming I can't think of a better time to ditch them. Anything you want is online and if like me you have a family member who don't use there sky go account then you can contribute a bit towards there bill and use there log in details. All we have now is talk talk phone/fibre broadband and mobile sim only and use the sky box as a freeview box as we don't have an ariel in the house.

I can't believe what I'm reading here. People paying circa £1000 a year for telly, phone and broadband. Are you the same people who baulk at the BBC licence fee, then pay Sky again to watch re-runs of OFAH or Blackadder because they call it 'Gold' instead of 'Repeats'.

My current Sky package is £88 a month and I've priced up a BT one to suit my needs at £45. I don't care about Sky Sports so much any more especially as they have already lose the FA cup and are losing the Champions League from next season. I'm happy enough with my Palace season ticket and watching Match of the Day for the rest and BT sport is free despite having boring Michael Owen commentating. Has anyone made the jump and what do you think of it?
Sky haven't had FA cup games since 2009. BT sport will not be free once they have the CL games. I hope that helps. How the f*** are you paying so much? I have the the full deal except movies and pay nowhere near that.
But like suggested, phone & say you want to get rid of it. I did & got 50% reduction for 6 months (then got rid of it)
Trivial fact - Palace used to win 5-1 at least once a season, maybe next season? |

If you're a long term customer you get f*** all reward for it, much like with most big companies like insurance and energy. I've called them before about dropping it and got it down to £60 but I still think that's too much for what I'm getting and I'm kind of serious about defecting now. The chance to get fibre optics is also a bonus as my flat is not in Skys zone. As for it not being free- if I enter into an 18 month contract should see me ok for a while then will just see what happens worst case I'll switch back and get a better deal. This is a prime example of breaking up a monopoly not being in the consumers favour- more competition for rights just bumped the price up. Edited by Pawson Palace (19 May 2015 8.42am)
I phoned up to moan about it going up £1 (when BT sport started) and got 50% discount for 12 months with no new contract. When that ran out I phoned back and got it discounted again to £52 and the latest HD box free, plus an upgrade to my package for the box sets. Never watch anything but sport live and never watch repeats.

I'm looking into getting an Amazon Fire stick with Prime. The stick costs £35 and the Prime contract is £79pa I believe?

I see it as paying for the privilege of choosing from 30 channels of sh*te instead of 25

Completely pointless for me as I've got a PS4 which does all that and more- useful if not though!

Your the same as me in terms of watching sports and the odd bit of History/Discovery channel, but I cant help but feel that BT is better value for money at the moment. Just a shame wiziwig got closed down!

Over a quarter of what I pay is for line rental, that I don't want or need, except for being forced to for Broadband. Broadband should not be via the phone networks anymore. But it's a good con to keep us all having landlines.
