Some are friends, others are colleagues... most are w@nkers! I still have good mates from work who I met in 1980 working for London Life. We relocated to Bristol, set up a football team and had loads in common. Colleagues sign your leaving card and when you look at it years later you struggle to remember them. W@nkers are everywhere.. they're at work, as you travel to work, go to lunch... they are even on here! Agree with this totally. Funnily enough I was thinking of starting a topic basically ranting about my boss, may still do. Few friends at work not many, few colleagues who are ok and decent to have a drink with once in a while. The vast majority get right on my nerves all the ******* time and one or two I genuinely hope get sacked one day soon.

To my shame I've signed leaving cards for people who I have no idea whom they are, and had cards signed by people who clearly had no idea who I was. The whole 'office politic of friends' is a farce really, in truth 95% of the people you work with disappear from your life and you could care less. I don't wish them ill or anything, but as you get older you realise the whole façade is really about making it easier to get through the working day by pretence that work consists of 'meaningful' relationships. It just makes us feel that we spend half of our life engaged in something meaningful and purposeful. I can count the number of people I'd consider friends within a five years of leaving a place of work on both hands.

If they would lend you their last fiver, help you move, not jump into bed with your missus, pay his way when going out, back you up in a tear up, Let you sleep with his wife, get the sack for you and Supports Crystal Palace then yes consider that person a Friend.

Another vote goes to most are w***ers. I work in marketing and advertising. You have to be a b****** or bitch to make it in this industry.
I'm tough. I'm ambitious. I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, I'm OK with that. |

For me, colleagues are people I devote a lot of time to in terms of convincing them that I'm not repeatedly stabbing them in the back whenever I get a chance. Same goes for friends and family.
