Why do hotels always put a phone next to the toilet? It's one of the great mystery's of our time to me. I have never considered having a dump and dialling at the same time.

In case you are a very old person and can't get off or have a fall. Saves putting in one of those red strings from the ceiling.

In the Shangrila in The Shard they have phone chargers in all the traps - not sure how long they expect you to be having a dump for

I have an imagination of having a telephone conversation with a person who is in the midst of a 'Bowel Movement' and I hearing an "Explosion" - quite abhorrent. Many years ago I used to work with a chap who used to enter a "trap" in work, proceed to empty his bowel in noisy fashion whilst having a chat with a colleague who was using a urinal.NOT good at all.
