Have you looked at Megabus? Bit of a pain cos it's train and coach, but generally significantly cheaper option.

Try splitting jouney London Doncaster then Doncaster hull .

Around £55 and prob the same train

Trainline good for times etc

As Kev64 says try splitting the tickets.
I've just had a quick look and found the following.
Kings X return to Doncaster £48.50
Doncaster return to Hull £15.00
You must travel on the train that you book.
It's possible with a more detailed look you may find it even cheaper.
