I'd be interested to know if this includes people on zero hour contracts... as it would make these figures seem better than they actually are if so.

If you believe that unemployment does go down by a certain amount every month every year without any peaks or troughs then these figures are for you.

Actual employment isn't really the issue, those people need to be earning a reasonable living wage. One thing I'll say about the conservatives they have committed to raising minimum wage (admittedly not enough - but part of that is down to successive governments inc Labour not adjusting minimum wage in line with real world costs, like rent, mortgages, food rises, heating etc). Working must provide a reasonable existence in society and as a means of self improvement / escaping poverty.

Both are now are far better than ever before for the vast majority. Don't get me started on street crime.

I raised this point before Why can't they lower corporation tax and business taxes and increase the minimum wage? Seems ridiculous taxpayers have to subsidise low wages with tax credits

Boom. Perhaps getting employers to pay a proper wage that the taxpayer doesn't have to subsidise would "wreck the economy"?
