Saw that people who had to leave their cars round Borough Market were told by the police today they could finally collect them They'd all got parking tickets

In fairness, TfL have cancelled the tickets and made an announcement to that effect the same day.

Actually not a bad idea. Ok it seems terrible - but it actually creates a digital record of all vehicles in the area, and confirms people were in the area, that's a matter of legal record - which can be cross referenced, and if necessary used in court or investigations. All those tickets get processed, and then cancelled, but they stay in the system.
