Help wanted to protect Cornwall's AONB

I hope many of the Palace fans can help me in an hour of need. A big multi-billion pound Swiss company is trying to turn an area of the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty into a quarry ( Cornwall.gov.uk planning application PA16/10746 ). Cornwall Council have been fed a series of misleading statements to give permission for the quarry and have believed them. However to access the quarry a local road will have to be closed. The Tamar Valley Discovery Trail will rerouted and traffic prevented. If we can prevent the road closure, the quarry cannot go ahead. The road is used by locals and as a shortcut between two major roads. It is a quiet, peaceful part of the countryside that deserves to remain so. To help prevent this quarry ruin the countryside, please help and send an email to NATIONALCASEWORK@dft.gsi.gov.uk and quote NATTRAN/SW/S247/3043 Comments have to be sent by 30 November. It's probably a good idea to give people a link to the proposals so they can at least make up their own minds: [Link] This is in fact an application to extend an existing quarry, rather than to start quarrying from scratch as the OP implies. Doesn't Cornwall need as many employment opportunities as it can get?

AONBs have the same amount of environmental protection as Dartmoor for example. According to the National Planning Policy Framework there has to be an exceptional reason to allow this to happen. The main reason here is to make a Swiss company a lot of money. There is sufficient stone in the current quarry for another 15 years. Jobs are not at risk. It may be funny to ask Palace supporters for an opinion, but the applicant had a retired market gardener from Wiltshire supporting the application (some sort of relative ?) I am very happy to talk to anyone about this for further info if required - PM me. I could talk about this for hours.

Tx very much for your support.
As you say, if any holers have ever enjoyed a holiday in Cornwall and particularly if you have visited Launceston, the quarry will make a difference to the countryside.
The quarry will be seen for miles when approaching from Tavistock into Cornwall. What a way to be greeted.
