Loved a school trip me, both as a teacher and pupil. Shame then that kids are going to miss out on them. Also affects the places they visit, less income generated may mean places closing down and costing jobs.

School trips. Primary school was eating the whole packed lunch twenty minutes after the coach left the school carpark and having 50p to spend in the gift shop. Secondary school first year was a day trip to France, smuggling back a black widow catapult and fire crackers as a warm up to being a senior and doing a Dutch exchange which meant the Dutch lad I stayed with took me in to Amsterdam to window shop tarts and smoke weed and when he stayed at mine I took him to window shop tarts in The Glades in Bromley and drink cider in the park. I obviously had a better time in Amsterdam.

Some school trips are very worthwhile experiences for kids whereas some other trips are a bit pointless. I'd like to think that this might encourage some lazy or indifferent parents to take their kids to places of interest which don't have to cost a fortune. Obviously, some parents can't afford more expensive ones and that is unfortunate. We all wish we had more money to spend on something. That's life. When are schools ever happy with their funding? If they say the are happy with it, they know it will get cut.

The school trips my kids were offered had to be paid by the parents and were ridiculously expensive as presumably had to also pay for the staff attending.

My mate in a Harris Academy says he has to buy his own paper for the kids. I went to the first one and there was one computer per student in each yeargroup. Edited by johnfirewall (27 Nov 2017 7.19pm)
