Hi everyone Many years ago I had a season ticket for a good few seasons. Then due to work commitments I stopped and used the HOL/Twitter to buy the odd ticket off someone. I'm thinking about getting a membership so I can buy tickets myself, but I have a feeling that most games are always sold out these days? Or is that not the case? Essentially I'd just like to know whether getting a membership will easily allow me to buy tickets to games or if there's anything else to consider.

Difficult to answer in these Covid times. Until we have our first PL home game, we won't really know how many fans will be turning up.

I suspect that this will be the easiest season yet to get tickets. ST numbers are bound to be down leaving more tickets free for casual fans. However I know people who have looked to move season tickets and had trouble finding two or three seats together so I could be completely wrong!
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

Let's for a moment imagine things go back to how they were. For most home games the attendance wasn't far short of capacity. However getting tickets, particularly if a member, was still quite possible as long as you applied as soon as they become available and didn't wait until a couple of days before the match. Obviously some games are more appealing than others, e.g. Man Utd, Liverpool as opposed to Burnley and Southampton, and for the big name games you'd have to be pretty quick off the mark. Of course the other point is that if you buy on a match by match basis you are not going to be able to pick and choose where you will sit.

Thanks Pete (and all) I think knowing how it was like 'before' is all I need. I'm not concerned if say the Man United games are harder to get, I just want to see Palace. Will get myself a membership then!

For what its worth I haven't had a season ticket for years, but I go fairly frequently. I often find that if I'm too late then there aren't any tickets, and that usually the only tickets available are restricted view ones (Holmesdale Upper corner usually). When I arrive I can sometimes move to better seats if they are empty after twenty minutes. All of which suggests sell outs are (or were) common enough, even if not every season ticket holder turns up for every game. Quite what the post-covid picture will be is of course unclear.

Every game because the only seats that are not used are (under PL rules) put asside for disabled fans or away fans that dont take them up. Steve Browett mentioned a while back that if our attendance is 21,300 or more (it always is) that is technically a sell out because CPFC are unable to sell any more tickets to their own fans.

A gold membership should allow you to easily get a matchday ticket (was once two tickets but now back to one ticket per membership) as long as you don't wait around for days when they go on sale. Another thing to consider is that match tickets are sometimes bundled so for an 'A' match you may also need to purchase a 'B' match at the same time - even if you have a membership. Sometimes becomes expensive if their is a few of you going (family) and the reason you have memberships in the first place is you can't afford to go to all the games. For the four of us (two adults and two kids) it meant laying out around £240 or so at a time - it was not uncommon for two lots of bundled tickets to be released within days of each other - priced us our of going to some games - even if the games were weeks apart.

Oh it only gets you 1 ticket? That's a bit disappointing.
