I have a 'Feeling in my water' that many, many years ago, I set foot in a Public House called the 'Catford Ram'. Apropos Lewisham, I recall visiting a chap, in Lewisham Hospital, who had been a victim of an assault. I heard loud shrieks and a young lad raced in shouting at the top of his voice "I have just been stabbed in the ar.e". I remember the Catford Ram too. It was a Youngs pub and was closed down a few years ago after a drug raid (nothing to do with your visit Willo - unless you are Inspector Willo of the Yard).

I lived in Wallington as a lad and my first car, financed by paper rounds, was an Austin 7. When I needed spares or parts I headed to Lewisham where there was a wonderful workshop/store specialising in Austin 7s. There was nothing you couldn't get there. Long gone now I suspect.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Where I used to live we regarded Lewisham as a right s*** hole. And that's saying something considering I lived in Erith!!
