Controversial? Maybe...
The way I see it, players the quality of Joel need to be involved with the nitty gritty of the game.

Admittedly its not his 'position', but we all know players like Gerrard, Bale, Ronaldo all made position changes during their careers.

Im not saying Joel is as good as those...
At least not yet.
But these are examples of players growing to fill roles, and Ward can do that too!

You just turned up at Palace? Ward is not playing Centre Back, is playing right midfield and hopefully will drop back to Right Back now Ledley has been signed.

I know where hes been playing...
Theres alot of talk on here about people wanting him back at RB. I think he can really develop into a terrific midfeilder, would be awesome to see that transition.

Awesome? your American aren't you? Beanhead.
Wasted at Full back, he is not playing full back and I cannot see where anyone is saying he should be a FB, Now Dann has joined, this will not happen.

You do realise a full back isn't a centre back right?

No, he's been a dyed in the wool Holer for 3 days now.

Daft post. Like being a right back isn't as valuable as being a midfielder.

I think that the OP was merely suggesting that JW could be turned into a better midfielder than he is a full back (which is a left/right back - as he quite correctly stated) similar to the Bale transition. Being a member of the HOL for only 3 days is totally irrelevant - at least he actually knows what position a full back is! I'm also struggling to see where he suggested that one position is more valuable?
