Valentine's Cards for Dogs

In WH Smiths today I noticed you can buy a Valentine's card for your dog (or presumably someone else's). This seemed really creepy to me. Is the dog expected to reciprocate? Anyone here had a romance with a pet that they'd like to share?

Dogs already send each other Valentines in the traditional manner using lampposts or trees and it don't cost their humans a penny. This is so stupid.....who would buy one? And why?
