Should MP's have 2nd jobs?

Does this mean Nadhim Zahawi thinks being an MP is a part time job. I'm sure among MPs there are those with second jobs that sway the way they might vote. I say no second jobs or places on boards / directorships if you are an MP. They should get paid more to counter this.

£74k isn't a part time salary.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

Yes they should. They should all do 4 hours, 3 or 4 nights a week in an off licence or in a supermarket. Settled.

And as a result of having a second top up job, pay 25% as the basic rate of tax on both jobs, like people who have to work two jobs do. MPs should be required to divest themselves of other jobs, roles and positions, when elected. They also should have a clause that prevents them taking 'certain jobs' for a period of time after they are no longer members of the cabinet or prime minister.

Yeah but most MP's will earn a lot more when you include the 'allowances and expenses' - Pretty sure if I tried to claim a second mortgage as an expense because I was working in Birmingham the HMRC would be laughing a year later. Most people in vocational calling careers could earn far more money if they worked for private industry - thank f**k they don't do it (Nurses, Teachers, Doctors, Scientists, Police, Military personel etc). In fact most could double their income. That said, I'd say pay them a flat 100k a year. That's a good wage plus a 25k a year par diem allowance.
