This could be a pinch of salt story but ......CRYSTAL PALACE are making a daring bid to snatch Germany keeper Kevin Trapp from French giants Paris Saint-Germain. Now French stopper Alphonse Areola, 24, has pushed him out of the all-star side and opened the door for Palace to make their move. Hodgson has been chopping and changing his keeper spot between Wayne Hennessey and Julian Speroni, so a loan move may suit as the Eagles bid to avoid relegation.

Are we falling into a Trapp here ? Supposedly dropped for PSG in Sep 2016 but might well be worth a look. Also on Wiki says he never played in the Con Cup !?! Edited by Booted Eagle (03 Dec 2017 7.38pm)

Not impressed. Trapped into his own half, keeps on passing the ball to the opposition...seriously his distribution of the ball seems very poor....

What a load of old Trapp. But he would be a useful addition to future nostalgia threads (“How come there are no ‘Kevins’ any more? etc)
Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes) |

Well that's bad news. They dress it up as the 2 clubs fighting over Trapp. Long story short, Palace may be interested but if Liverpool are also then they will get him. Now, Simon Mignolet at Palace if this happens? That's possibly more intriguing. On the face of it I'm sure a lot will scream NO because of some awful performances for Liverpool but he was always top notch at Sunderland and some players, Goalkeepers in particular, can fold under immense pressure like playing for a team of Liverpool's side. It's a big mental game and little things like knowing his team Liverpool, were in a position to beat Arsenal the other night and as long as he can have a good game, they will win and he goes and makes a terrible mistake. At Palace, if we were 2-1 up to Arsenal at the Emirates, the general consensus would be we will still lose the game anyway, if that's not going through his mind and he can concentrate on goal-keeping, maybe he doesn't make any errors and helps us win. All speculative but you don't just go from very good keeper to one of the worst in the league over night.

Of course Mignolet would be excellent for us. The "top" pressure will be off him and I have no doubt he would be brilliant. How financially viable is another matter though. Originally posted by leejaneagles
