Sørloth debut

Result aside, what did everyone think of Sørloth today?
I felt he looked quite promising, won a few headers and linked up well at times with other players. He did a good cross to Benteke at one point also which we really should of made more of. Looks like he could get a few goals before the end of the season in my opinion.

I thought he looked very at home and composed on the ball. A good header that was saved and he forced a number of errors from Everton. Not a spectacular debut but a promising one and under difficult circumstances.

Delighted from a Norwegian point of view. Dreadful to watch the match. But with at Norwegian in the team our "Sky" TV 2 shows all the Palace matches in february, and almost all in march. Nice

Looked alright - physically capable, and contributed well to the attacking play. If only we had more than 3 attacking players, we could drop Benteke and have him as the main striker.

Pleasantly surprised, did not look out of his depth.
Caused Everton some problems.
Could form a useful partnership with Benteke up front.

Impressive - work rate is what every fan wants to see - it's not his fault that he was played out wide. Drop Benteke, start with Sorloth in a 4-5-1

I thought he did very well. Good header and for a big bloke he did a lot of work tracking back. Love to see him play in the middle.

Benteke has to be dropped, play Sørloth in the middle & bring Lokilo in. Townsend too predictable today.

I thought he looked really good, as long as we don't destroy the poor lad's spirit I think he'll do well for us.

I was impressed he did things simply and laid the ball off well. I guess playing out wide was a bit alien to him but he did well. He does not look that quick over the ground but all in all good debut.

I think he looked (understandably) a little hesitant, I think he may get a tad faster when he loosens up a bit. He did well in running back to cover to at times too.

Looked good. Promising player. When we have a full strength team he could end the season as the first choice striker over Benteke.

Says a lot about this place that the OMFG!!! We're f***ed! thread is 5 pages long and this one (a huge positive that we can take from this admittedly horrendous match) hasn't even hit two yet.

Tbh I thought he had a poor first half, mainly on his first touch. His control of the ball seemed lacking. I am possibly biased having seen him play here in Holland. Looked good second half. Shame that header did not go in.

Was at Goodison,he had an excellent debut,strong,good in the air and his general play was pretty good as well.Would have had a goal but for a brilliant save by Pickford.
We should play both him and Benteke,rest Townsend whose crossing and lack of them was a factor in our loss today and maybe give Lokilo a start.
Also find someone else to take corners,Cabaye was totally s*it at them today.
Do I hate our doom and gloom posts,you bet I do.

He certainly put in the work today - his touch map showed that he had the most touches of any player on the field in the first half and was up and down that left side. Completely agree with the corners - we had two huge CF's and big defenders in there and never got close to hitting them.

Looked good, a really positive debut.. Very strong lad! His touch looked a little heavy but that’s being overly critical. I also liked the fact for a newbie and young lad he was telling the other players what positions to get into and where they should go. Annoying we did not cross the ball enough for him and Benteke but Sorloth especially as he won pretty much everything in the air. Townsend was guilty of not getting the ball in enough today. Think we may have found a gem in this lad. Got all the attributes and seems like he has a great attitude/desire. I’d really like to see him down th middle. He looks such a handful.

This indeed. Why the Jeff is Cabaye taking all the corners? They're predictable, slow and inaccurate. We need to whip some of them in fast and hit the big men, and we need to mix them up more. Cabaye is even worse at it than Puncheon was, and we have an excellent dead ball player in Milivojevic.

Agree entirely with this. They seem to be a very Sørloth on that thread.
