I’m currently reading Michael Calvin’s State of Play which is interesting but lacks a bit of focus.

The secret footballer might be worth a read if you want to know about the behind the scenes stuff. Some say its a load of rubbish but never know till you read it.

Yes, I’ve read the Secret Footballer books (isn’t it Paul Kitson?) one of them contained the story of a player spending about £20,000 on a bottle of champagne who turned out to be our own dear Connor Wickham. Probably injured himself lifting it.

Rogan Taylor (a grubbly little sh*te of a man) wrote an excellent biography of Ferenc Puskas (Puskas on Puskas) - it's very expensive (£20 second hand hard cover) despite being over 20 years old - great book though, when modern football began and all that.

Red card Roy which is the autobiography of Roy McDonagh who once held the record number of red cards in English football. A proper old school centre forward who led quite an interesting life off the pitch as well as on. Their is a great bit in there about a confrontation he had with a certain Mr Pulis.

Big Fry - The Autobiography by Barry Fry is an amusing warts & all read of life from a trainee at Man U to management in the lower leagues.
