What Type Of Signings Do We Need

We have only lost once in the last seven games during which time we have had at least six first choice players out injured.
This would suggest our squad is capable of maintaining our position in the league without new additions.
If this is an acceptable statement then our signings should only be players that strengthens our team as the 25 are good enough.
So what type of player should we be signing in January?

We need players in every position. A chronic lack of recent investment has left us short in every department. Thats down to the board, I doubt they’ll address the situation in January

If that is the case you would sign another 11 players making our 25 into 36. Is this a wise move ?

We don't need any, we need players back from injury and for Wickham to stay free from injury.

Even if we had a fully fit squad we are still a right back ,a winger and a forward short . With the current injuries I think a left back should be added to that .

We have adequate players available to play in all these positions if necessary and anyway where is the funds for this

I would agree we need another right back and try to find an alternative goal scoring striker , if they exist for what we are prepared to pay! I think we have cover already for our left back position in Riedewald.

personally i would rather we blood a kid before spending money on a striker, that wont happen tho...if we can sell bentekkers or wickham then thats fair game tho get another striker in.

personally, we cant sign players because we have
injuries...we have kelly & jairo playing because we have multiple injuries, if we sign players it will bloat the squad.

we havnt faced these selection problems since pardews days, tho if signing players meant roy stays another 2 years its worth the investment.

We are not struggling far from it so the urgency to buy is much reduced, only loans I reckon because they are better bets at this time of season, gambles in January are silly. Injured will come back.

thats not true one bit.

we actually have a well balanced squad, we are however, missing a 20 goal a season striker bit we cant afford one so we may aswell go with what we have.

A tiny small problem then lol

Agreed but we don’t have good squad depth, we need to invest in a squad not a 1st team. We’re performing far beyond expected

It depends if anyone leaves in January. There are one or two it may be difficult to hold on to.

A winger, striker and couple of full backs are needed, but I can't see the yanks spending any money.

Roy doesn't seem keen on loan players, so it's hard to see us getting what we need.

People stop with the we need a 20 a season goal scorer doesn't every one this is just silly.

What is the point in having that if they dont fit in to Roy style and dont have player around to provide the service which is the case now.

Right back is a must
Another winger is a must

nothing else really needed until summer

i expect we will loan a bunch of players with maybe 1 full signing could be more if others leave but in Palace fashion right at the end of the window and reject from another club.

Grumpymort you are correct a 20 goal a season striker is only relevant if he scores 20 goals in the team he plays for namely Palace.
I am not sure who we should sign that will fit into our team even if we had unlimited funds.
As for the rest you are probably correct with your prognosis.

Depends who leaves and if we can cut away some of the dead wood.

Caramassa (?) has not been a good signing and it may be time to cut our losses on Tekkers. I would have said sell Jairo but his performance on Boxing day makes me wonder. Maybe sell one of our two spare keepers.

If Wilf goes then maybe get the Batsman back, especially if he ends up at Chelski

StrangerThing Flag Brisbane 28 Dec 19 10.52pm

I thought Reidewald made some telling contributions. He has the ability to see a first time pass that suddsnly breaks open an attack. Coul be a really useful player for us.
VAR isnt the only problem, yesterday Wolves got a goal from a massive shove today one that wasmore shoulder to shoulder is a penalty against Villa, consistency please.

I agree if players are moved out then it is a different scenario.

We may be needing both our other keepers if Man City/West Ham interest in VG have any basis.

1 right back to challenge Ward (who os the only right back by trade)

Maybe 1 central attack oriented midfielder (not found since Cabaye left and playing both Luka and Kouyate seems too much for a team which scored just 18 goals). Camarasa was meant to be him, but is he staying? And can he prove himself? Trouble is that all his goals for Cardiff came from a more advanced position, not from central midfield, which is his natural position.

Definitely 6 attacking players, as there should be 4 wingers, 2 attacking midfielders/ second strikers and 2 center forwards capable of scoring and creating. At the moment there are only 2: Jordan Ayew and Zaha. If we could get 15 million for Townsend, 10 for Benteke from China or Russia or whatever and 10 for Meyer, I'd buy 6 others (also send Wickham to get playing time and pull Schlupp back to left back position cause he sure isn't a competent winger).

A team with only 2 attacking players who actually do something is really weak. Just compare this Palace to when is had Zaha, Bolasie, Dwight Gayle, Murray, Puncheon, Townsend in good form, all competing for a place.

Most PL team have at least 6-7 good attacking players. We're in a decent league position cause of the defence, but it won't hold on forever. Without goals we'll get close to relegation zone in no time. Just 8 points clear, table is still open.
