I've heard it said that Kevin Keegan was an example of an average player who worked so hard that they made themselves world class. While I understand the sentiment I don't really buy that myself but it had me thinking. What examples do Holers have of players they have seen, who from one season to the next, most improved as a player.

Wan Bissaka massively improved pretty quickly. I was thinking recently at Palace how ours never seem to get better - they seem to get more unfit and generally worse. Hopefully, Viera and coaching team will change that.

I think Ronaldo is the right answer in terms of someone who has maximised their talent - I've always thought the biggest compliment to him is that he's even made it a debate between himself and Messi, as I think there's a significant gulf in natural ability. For us, I think Jedinak is as extreme an example as I saw - he was abysmal his first few games; poor on the ball, couldn't turn, couldn't run, game just seemed to pass him by. Turned into probably the most dominant midfielder I've seen play for us, certainly physically. I also remember Wardy getting skinned by a Watford prospect called Sean Murray in his first game for us - Murray absolutely ran rings round him and I thought we'd signed a real dud. Murray is now 27 and playing in the League of Ireland, so I think Joel won the war.

Ayew's form from 1st to 2nd season probably deserves a mention, but he's gone back to being sh*te so not sure it counts.

I think Son Heung-min has improved hugely over the last few seasons for Spurs, to the point where I think he could step up if Kane wants to go to City. In the realms of Palace IMO Dikgacoi got better and better especially in our first season back in the PL and was unlucky to fall out of favour and get flogged to Cardiff.
