Bruce is already dead man crawling. If anyone still bears him ill this many years after he left us, they would surely want him to be kept in the job for longer: every day must be more miserable than the last. Finally getting sacked will be a blessed relief.

The main obstacle to that relief is that no-one half decent with significant experience seems to want to go there. And why would you until January when you can actually spend some money to improve things. None of the names being mentioned at the moment are better or more experienced than Bruce imho.

I agree with most others that Steve Bruce is hanging in there by a thread. However despite all the venom and vitriol that is currently thrown at him he is probably comforted each evening by re-reading his contract by the fire at home, especially the termination clause!

Also I don't think that many other high profile managers are relishing the opportunity of being the first one in the door come January when they can put a sticking plaster on it. BFS on a six month deal and a couple of players maybe!
This will be rebuilding job from next summer.
