So the boss of FIFA says that the big European broadcasters - PARTICULARLY THOSE FUNDED BY TAXPAYERS - should pay a lot more for the TV rights to the next women's world cup, otherwise FIFA will take its ball home. They have no reason to pay "over the odds" simply because the clown at the dodgy head of FIFA thinks the women DESERVE the same pay as the men. But your point certainly holds in the case of (in the UK) ITV and channels 4 and 5. As far as I'm aware they aren't in the bidding at all, and they won't be unless they can secure rights for a low fee.

I saw a report that said that the BBC and ITV have a joint bid like they do for the men's word cup. I agree with the sentiment of most other posters I would be devastated (not) if it was not shown in the UK. That threat is about effective as the postal unions threatening to strike so I wont get my bills e.g. I don't care. I think this is just grandstanding by FIFA to show the wimmin we did try and get you a better deal.

It almost comes across as though large organisations, such as FIFA, despite all their virtue signalling are not interested in the likes of woman's football at all and only interested in money! That would be completely unexpected and shocking if so. 'Supply and Demand!!!' my old economics teacher shouted at us when we first entered his room... perhaps he had a point. It's useful to be able to spin it as 'others not being as invested as they are' and therefore they'll impose sanctions until the money, apologies I mean commitment, is shown however.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Of course he had a point. Yet search on LinkedIn and you will find many apparently senior business people spouting the tripe that women footballers should have pay parity with men, and the only basis for this seems to be that "we" won the women's Euros. They can't seem to grasp the fact that "someone" wins the Euros every time it's played; it just happens to have been England this time, benefitting from the massive advantage of having been at home.

But it's absolute lunacy for the UK broadcasters to be expected to outbid themselves simply because of some woke agenda.

Whether we like it or not sport is entertainment and is paid accordingly. Taylor Swift is the highest paid singer not because she is a woman or talented but because she puts bums on seat. This is what the woke don't get, women in sport rarely earn as much as men because no one is interested, harsh but true. This also applies to minority sports no doubt people who play conkers will argue that they are really professional and work hard but this is always the cry of those who want more money and TV coverage.
