Serious question for those with possibly a better insight. After all these years in the premier league why haven’t we got more money? Or moved forwards? We are one of only 20 teams in what is pretty much agreed to be the greatest league in the world. Why hasn’t a bigger investor not come in? All the so called big boys are well and truly backed and not going anywhere that leaves not that many teams in this great big shop window available to grab a piece of the pie. Even without a Saudi oil prince coming in on a white horse to lift us how have we got so little funds that in the last couple of windows we have not got hold of a decent right back, cover for left back (who cost us nothing) or a decent goal scoring striker.

Lack of planning and always appointing coaches to fire fight As if that’s our only issues We appoint coaches to fire fight as you call it because we can’t compete financially, unlike some we can’t spend a billion in two years on players and our ground doesn’t earn us much with only a 26000 capacity and a minimal corporate side compared to other clubs.

Our mediocre form in recent years, the apparent lack of ambition demonstrated by the board and our elderly, low capacity ground do nothing to tempt a starry eyed investor to throw good money at our club. Unfortunately we are devoid of the perceived glamour that seems to attract the kind of financial investment we require.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

cos this is the toughest, biggest-money League in the World. cos there are probably a dozen clubs beneath us with a) a bigger weekly gate and b) no significant debts to worry about. Sunderland, Middlesboro, Derby. And even the kippy little stadia , with the small clubs....QPR....Have Owners/chairmen that make Bill Gates look impecunious. Look at yesteryears 'good progress' clubs. Clubs that were always just outside the top 6. Good clubs with good prospects. Stoke, Watford, Wigan, Reading, Leicester, Portsmouth, Blackburn....why have they 'not progressed' ? Cos, in the long run, only 5 teams are Premier League Stalwarts. Every Zebra gets eaten by a hyena or a crocodile, eventually. I was hoping to see Everton go down, and look how well they fought back. we need a 55 thousand capacity Stadium - in SE25, and no debts. With all our existing transport connections plus a Tram directly to Beckenham Junction. Thus, even relegation wouldnt phase us....we could quickly bounce back. Also, South London is a hotbed for producing World-class footballing talent. We need to capitalise on that. Train up youngsters for export to European Clubs, Championship clubs etc. There are too many big footballers, from our hood, who didnt connect much with Palace. Any investor would have to fork out a fortune for the ground as well as the team. If we had a 40k shiny complete stadium, I reckon we could get an investor. That's my opinion anyway.

Surely a wise investor looks for potential and not the finished article as the finished article has no room for improvement. It’s all about value for money and Palace would be relatively cheap to buy with potentially a big upside. It would not surprise me if we have already had numerous approaches by wealthy consortia and individuals that have been turned away by Parish because they wouldn’t leave him in charge. I don’t believe he wants to let go of the reins.
