Anyone still think Andersen will not be first choice CB?

Very tough watch but it is clear as mud that we need a new left full back, Mitchell is not good enough at this level and it is criminal to have no replacement for him.

There were not many positives from that game but I would happily never see Mateta or Schlupp play football ever again.

He is a class act, I have high hopes for himself and Guehi.

If there is a positive, then it’s seeing Andersen come on. He looks class :-) With Gallagher to come in next match and Benteke to start that’s 3 positions strengthened. Think Ward and Mitchell would be better as squad players as well. Not sure who we have to replace them though?

A bit of a beating yes, but that was the toughest fixture to have as an opener. A reaction next week and I will be happy….

Richarlisson (Everton) assist by Townsend.

Just to rub it in....

Takeaways:

1) Ref Jon Moss must hate Wilf, and he's not much of a fan of the rest of Palace.

2) Guehi, Andersen and Rak-Sakyi improve us significantly. Gallagher should as well.

3) Ward needs to be much sharper. Both he and Ayew played rusty today.

4) We miss Eze.

5) Andersen appears to be the only player on the squad (other than Eze) capable of delivering good balls to Benteke.

6) I hope PV will be able to succeed (as Roy never did) of convincing Wilf that being the target of fouls, cheap as well as clever, is a sign of respect. And that calling for them every time you go down will hurt your cause in the long run.

3-0 great result - would have been 6 against anyone else ! Seriously we didn't expect much and I'm sure it will make the lads all the more determined to get a win v brentford. Vieira will have learned more about the players from this game than all the pre-season games put together.

That was about what I expected. Anderson looks good and we were a lot better when Tekkers came on to hold up the ball. Mateta just can't do that.

This game showed where we're weak and that's about the best positive I got from the game. Nice to see Rak-Saki <sp> get on. He did look composed.

And, yes, the Palace fans beat the Chelsea fans about 10-0, especially with your performance in extra time. Thank you supporters for making me proud to be fan of Palace.

In a way,it's good that we have played a team like Chelsea for our first match.

No-one really expected a result against the best in europe, but it will certainly have given PV food for thought and show up all our shortcomings and weaknesses in one game.

However much they may do on the training ground or in pre-season friendlies, there's nothing like a real, competitive environment to show the up the worst of us (and the best, even if we struggle to see any today )

Just about sums it up...

Very disappointing result.
All the narrative has been about rebuilding and bringing players in, yet our starting line-up contained only 1 new signing.

In the relegation zone already.
