The answer here is simpler than everyone is making it. We take all possible candidates and have them enter an Olympic style tournament in which they battle for the managers position using our old half time shows. Let's see how Rowett and Coleman get on with a game of two baths

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Strangely optimistic..' by Guntrisoft The more it's sinking in, the more optimistic I am about getting a new gaffer. Don't blame big Sam, I think the England job really did kill him and he wanted that final chance to prove himself. Slovisa Jokanovic anyone??

Normally when the 6 monthly odds for a new place manager come out , Tony Popovic is somewhere on the list . Please to see he's not there this time . So far with the Sydney wanderers he's got things right once in the several seasons he's been in charge . He seems to have a high rate of turn over with his players seeming to almost rebuild his squad most seasons and has a my way or the high way attitude . Might work when he's the big fish in the pond as he is at the wanderers but I'd wonder how he's manage all the personalities in the palace squad . Also he let Aaron Mooy go without a big fight and never gave him the responsibility that he was clearly capable of , and was obvious to any follower of the A League at the time . Me bagging a fellow Aussie ... Wow !!! Cliff

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Strangely optimistic..' by Guntrisoft Definitely think he could do well (look at Clement at Swansea) but I would personally prefer a Silva or a Ranieri myself. But I'm sure whoever we get will be the right man.

Ranieri heavily backed with bookies. Not sure about this one despite miracles last season.

Yes to Jokanovic. Not many other names spring to mind. Definite no to Coleman. My one worry is we currently suit the direct style of play ala Pulis and Allardyce. Recent attempts at a change of style have been miserable. 'If' we do change direction we need a new manager sharpish, an almighty summer transfer window and a very decent off-season to bed in the tactics. That sounds like an almighty task!
